My First Grow! I Have A Few Questions.

Bada Bing Bada Boom haha. Deff will need a high amount of ventilation once you hook the 400/600 HPS up. I had the same problem. Had to install an inline fan through carbon filter ducting through the eaves of my home. That helps pull the hot heat out and my intake into the room is also run by a small inline fan which keeps cool air coming in and it just recycles itself. Good luck bro subbed this so keep us updated

Nice plants! :hump: I can definitely tell I let mine stretch. :dunce: Hopefully mine won't grow into jack and the bean stalk. Hopefully the topping will bush them out a little further.

Here is a quick update. I added the Mylar, new 6" fans and ratchet ropes. Also a cool black light poster of Bob!

I love what you're doing brotha. Same exact way(for the most part) how I start ALL my MMJ. You WILL see great results as long as you keep your PH balanced and don't overfeed esp at this stage. Deff on the right track bro. On the heat issue once you start to flower...Do you live in an apartment building? Also I wanted to show you how I had mine setup when I was at that point. Very similar indeed.

I believe this was my third or 4th week from seed. It's the Hydrofarm 4' 4bulb T5 HO 6400K bulbs/Sunblaze sinle 4' T5 HO 6400K bulb.

The beauty of topping...twice the colas and all the lower braches connected to them. Your yield will multiply believe me.

Full view of them all at that point

Tapoirai---Your plants stretch was minor compared to some I've seen lol. Think of it like this. When you brought that T5 light down to where it needed to be, plus topping, you saved them right at that point. They are gonna explode. Not in a jack and the bean stalk way lol(depending on what you're growing) but in a good up and out ratio(bushy). I'd say start giving them 1/4 of their veg nutes and work your way up as the weeks go on. Once they outgrow just the T5 put your MH/high pressure in(depending if you veg longer or go for flower). And hang the T5 from the wall, it works wonders on the lower branches nodes and new growth for veg and the beautiful lower popcorn nugs for flowering and they too will explode becoming more of a can of corn bud :)

They have been the the Fox Farm soil for about 3 weeks. I keep it on the dry side as I've noticed they like it that way. I've also read that the roots get a better oxygen flow if the soil is damp and not wet. Do you think 1/4 nutes right now is good or does the FF soil still have enough nutes? I've been told that FF has enough for around 4 weeks. I've not noticed any yellowing or spotting at all. They are all very green and strong. Even the "leaner" has really made progress in the last few days. I also have a tent I've been preparing that has the 600W HPS. I figured as soon as I saw calyx development I'd go one more week and into the tent. I'll start my clones from these girls and get prepare for the two mother plants, depending on which plant does the best in the tent. Now that I'm done flapping my lips, how big will they get under the T5 and will I need to veg even after the T5 is outsized? These are both Sativa/Indica strains. White Widow and Super Silver Haze.

I would think it's safe to start 1/4 nutes now. If you notice anything stop. I grew from seed on the grow I'm on and got root bound at a couple of weeks so the growth stunted at first. I vegged from seed almost 2 months. 1 month under the T5 and the other under the T5 and a 400w MH. Depending on the size of your buckets a T5 will veg a couple of plants out just fine. Maybe a 1'-1 1/2' at 12/12 switch.2-2 1/2' at harvest with just T5s with the right bulb correlation. A 4' 4 bulb T5 will veg and flower up to 2-3 small plants. I would order a MH conversion bulb to work in your HPS ballast. 6500K. rock that for a couple weeks with the T5 on the side and then switch. Just me though. Not too sure of your situation? Keep me updated.

I have a digital ballast that will handle both MH and HPS. I should be able to swap the bulb. I'm planning to take more pics tonight to share on here. I'm buyin a jewlers loupe today so I'll take a few close ups of the nodes. I'm also going to take clones tonight. It's the next big step for us. We have started our own clones. Ought to be an experience. I just watered last night so I'll start the 1/4 nutes in two days at next water.

Thanks for helping me along!

No problem man. I'd want the help if I needed it too. I got you bro. Excellent that you have the digi ballast that will handle both MH and HPS so you don't have to worry about any conversions. But for optimal vegging you want to use a MH 6500K bulb. And when you switch to flower use the HPS bulb 2100k-3000k. Can't wait to see pics. Also badass that you're getting the growth enough to get a few clones. Simple error corrections=big results. Make sure you slip those clones right under that T5 as well for about 3 weeks then to the MH or whatever you prefer. Good call on waiting on the nutes. When you feed you should do so every other watering. Water, feed, water, feed everytime the soil dries(2-3 days in between waterings, depending). Your plants will love the shit out of you. Check this out. Shows how plants can show emotion just by knowing it's going to be watered it gives off radiant energy just like humans do. Here's the link. Love your plants.

skip bout quarter way through it and don't mind the title. I think you will appreciate it.

I think that comment was made back when I had the T5 too far away. The 600W will be far enough to where I can barely feel it my hand. Or so that is what I've read so far.

Thanks for lookin out!

You put a 600 hundred watter 2 to 4 inches from the plants you won't have to smoke them they'll already be burnt.

New pics and video. I just wanted to share with everyone the progress after one week of changes to the environment. I think things are coming along just fine. I did notice some yellowing on the leaves of the bigger plants. These girls need their nutes on the next watering, tonight. We decided to wait until tonight to clone the plants. We have identified the branches we want. So it's off to the clone process.

The clone process was harder than I thought. I didn't put the warmer under the propagation box and all of the clones flopped over. I watered and put the warmer pad and all but two are coming around. I think I cut a couple too long. Is it safe to pull them out and cut them shorter at this point?

Followed your video link and left a message for you on there. Glad everything is paying off. I knew those T5's would bush those suckers right out. Caught the stretch just in time. Love the idea of your new setup. Keep us updated brov!

Hi all!

I'm starting to see a definite nitrogen deficiency. 3 of the plants are showing bottom leaf yellowing from the tip. Text book example. I added 1/4 nutes at last water. I am watering again tonight and I wanted to make another small adjustment. I am using X Nutrients and they provide this chart. I am certain this is for hydro but I think I ought to at least go to 1/2 at this water. http://www.xnutrients.com/schedule.pdf is the schedule. My grow shop fellas told me they have been using this brand recently and it has had good results. I'm a newb so I took their advice. I see no reason why it would be a problem except that I think I need to step it up a little bit.

Thoughts?

Go half nutes then brother. If the problem persists flush the plants and try again but if it's just the very bottom(oldest) leaves I wouldn't worry an awful lot about it. All new growth looks good? If there are no spots and no browning/yellowing then I say go for it. What size pots are they in? You might have already told me but I don't remember. If it doesn't get any better within a day or two throw some pics up and we'll figure her out. Later brov.

I think it best to just put the pictures up before I do something bad :dunce:. I've only seen pictures and read descriptions of an N def. I'd hate to wipe out all this hard work with a knee jerk reaction to something that might be quite simple to solve. I'll post them tonight. Thanks again!

haha no doubt man I don't blame you. Yeah pics would def be a plus. Have you checked your soils PH level? Just a thought?

Here is a new update. Since we last shared we had a smal H issue. I fed them another 1/4 and that solved the issue. I also went to a #3 pot from a #2 pot. Both changes made the ladies very happy. I alos moved them into the tent to prep for flower. You heard me right... FLOWER!!!! I am excited. We have been nervously waiting for this time. This is it though. We have cloned the plants and so far so good. Looks like 100%. I thought we lost two but they came back around. I bought a new PPM meter so when we start flower nutes we'll be on top of it. I also bought some Bud Candy. We are interested in REALLY STINKY BUDS!

Without the wait... Here are the girls in their new home and new look.

Soil is in at 6.8 at the moment. I've seen it as high as 7.0 and as low as 6.5. I thing the soil is dialed in. Surely missing nutes though. ;)

We are ready for flower. The nutes have been transitioning from veg to flower slowly. Plants are looking great, IMHO. Tell me what you think.

I would bring raise the light up a couple inches. In the second picture it looks like the girls on the outside are starving for some lumens.

IMO an even canopy right before flower is the best canopy. This way you can keep your light as close as possible to ALL of your plants, not just the tallest, more favored plants.
