you should let your seed sink in water fro 24 hours then put them in a small storage container in a papertowel where its warm.....

some will sprout some wont its the game.....

What I do is Fold a peace of paper towel in to a V shape drop in the seeds then pour water in it. Then that goes into a zip lock bag and into a dark place for 1-2 days.
When you were told to put them in water that's what they meant for you to do not make them swim lol.

I know what you're talking about--I tried the same thing as an experiment last time around. As stated above, remove them after they sink and place on moist paper towel.

I don't like that method. I just put mine on a moist paper towel, on a plate with a bowl turned upside down on top to block any light. Results in 24-48 hours. I like to remove the bowl every now and then to circulate some air. Sometimes I'll roll the seeds on the paper towel or drop a single drop of water on them for encouragement. Probably not necessary though.

I tried the paper towel method and I never had much success. Maybe using too much water and just drowning them or whatever. SO what I did after I failed the first time was take a really small container (Like what they use to put dipping sauces in at the restaurant) and put just enough water in it so the seeds are about 2/3 submerged. Stir them around occasionally & give it about 24 hours in a dark place, covered up with a sandwich bag or whatever and hopefully you'll have a couple crack. As soon as you see a crack on the seam, put those little fuckers in your medium. If you leave them in the water for too long you'll drown them. Hope this helps

Were you under the impression that the seed would sprout in water? You just need to soak them, then plant, or put in paper towel.

I use the paper towel method. I fold a paper towel twice and put it on a plate (spray it), put seeds in fold, fold over to cover, spray water until moist and put in a dark place. I don't cover it at all.

Just germinated 7 Purple Napoleon seeds and 6 popped. Two of the seeds were immature though, so I was only expecting for 5. Took about 48 hours.

Try this next time:
1) place seeds in moist paper towel.
2) once folded, mist the towel with more water
3) place the paper towel (now with seeds in it) in a sandwich ziploc bag (close)
4) place on top of your comcast cable box or something similar (this keeps constant moisture in ziploc).

With this method my seeds were ready in 3 days.

do you guys consider cracking and putting out a bit of taproot to be germinating? i used to always put them in a glass of water w/ a drop of hydrogen peroxide and kept it in a warm area, 90% would crack and show tails within 24 hours and be ready to go into the soil and the other 10 percent never really would(well, technically, their is the chance they might be alive still, but after 24 hrs they get thrown away.) you also need to check as often as you can to pull out any that have cracked and shown tails, otherwise they would usually die.
I just put the beans straight in the soil now, the other way doesnt make it really sprout out of the soil any faster , waste of time imo, but it can be done.

I put mine in a shit glass filled with water and 100% pop, i've heard the paper towel method is better but i personally like the water method

LMFAO. Yeah they tend to not do well if they are sitting in a shit filled shot glass. I just put a damp paper towel on a plate ,place seeds on it , fold over, then cover with saran wrap. Within a few days you got sprouts.

I put this one in shot glass for 24-36 hours on 4/15 until it sprouted a tail, then put it soil in a party cup with a baggie over it until it shed the shell, then put it in the soil. This is what it looks like today. In a week or so it should show me what sex it is. Good LuckPICT0145.jpgPICT0144.jpg
