New Hydroponic Grower - White cotyledons on seedlings

Heya,

I'm a new to hydroponics and mj growing, so I'm not sure exactly how to diagnose the problem I'm having.

I started out making adjusting the PH of the distilled water to 5.5 and soaking my A-OK Grodan starter cubes for 10s (as per the instructions on the packaging) and then inserted my seeds (tap root on each was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch), placing them in a dark area.

Today, I took a look and the cotyledons are white (see attached) and this is the first time I've ever seen that from a seedling. I read quite a bit online that water was the only thing that was needed in the first 2 weeks before introducing any nutrients, so I'm not sure if that's what I should be adding now or if it just needs some light to sort itself out; I wasn't able to put it under this morning as I was heading late to work.

Would anyone have any idea?

Time to put her under some lights and she will green up.

Plants started in soil do not need nutes. Hydroponic seedlings should get a light feed and you better include some cal/mag if using distilled water.

don't start seeds in rock wool... rock wool has a natural ph of 8.0 its only used in flood and drains or drips because its always getting a fresh soaking of ph balanced water.. which keeps the rckwool from drying and the ph from raising. rock wool is a pain all around... but if your hand watering it it will burn .. tbut back to the main thing.. he plant hasn't had lights thats why its white i wouldn't keep it. its going to have genetics issues
