Noob 1st Grow

The plant is 1 month old and a lil tall due to only window sill sunlight for first week. Typical soil/perlite mix, miracle grow 1/2 strength, 24/7 lights need to replace bulbs with blue spectrum for veg from what I hear. no strain just seed from sweet mids. any comment/advice is welcomed.

get a 4 pack of 6500K bulbs, and 2 light socket splitters, find you two light sockets (you already have one) and keep those things as CLOSE as you can, but still with enough room to grow. best to keep 1-2 inches away NO MORE than 3 inches if you can help it.

to get it to flower you will have to switch back to the 2700K bulbs and 12/12 light

your's looks like my first grow stretched. but mine had bad heat stress cause of the bulbs i was using. i switched to the CFL's and its made a huge difference. check out the link in my sig for my grow. im at 3 weeks from seed.

check out kingdavid's grow too he has a great lookin plant growin.

there are a bunch of threads that will help you, just take the time to read em! :leaf:

pics of old plant and new plant. old plant was over a month old. new one is just 3 weeks.

And if you can double that!

Yep, fully agree! Your's looks like how mine started out... LIGHTS lights LIGHTS!!! CFLs are probably going to be your best bet right now. Price wise for one, & 2 they can be much closer without the heat damage.

Ok going to Home de Pot after work for lights!!! Just planted a sprout and going to shower it with 6500k and watch her fly! Thanks for advice

Bought 4 23watt (daylight) cfl's not sure about the color temp since nothing was labelled at home depot, but they are obviously different than the ones I had. Will buy more tonight and some hanging fixtures. Also had to move my grow into the closet since the new lights cast a strange blue glow lol.

daylight CFL's are 6500K. IDEAL spectrum is 5500+K 6500K being all the way blue spectrum. they are the best cfl's for veg. when you switch to flower, get the 2700K, i think they are called soft white maybe?

Moved the lights out to 4" few days ago cuz the 6500k bulbs are a lot hotter than the 2500k and singed 2 leaves. I snipped em and topped her off. Since then the undergrowth is growing out and the 2 new tops are going strong =). My sprout is about a week or so old now and looks like the rest of the sprouts I see on here, short with large leaves woot. Will post pics tonight.

the 6500K was hotter than the 2700K? my experience has been the opposite?

did you get MORE bulbs when you switched? thats what the problem may have been. i have 4 6500K bulbs hanging about 1.5-2 " above my plant, and have only burned it once, but thats because it grew so fast one day it grew INTO the bulb before i could get home from work and adjust the lights.

i agree to the 2700K bulbs being hotter with my experiences. either way nice plant you got there.

Here's some pics! Is this thing too tall to be viable?
