my plants are going to be without hid for about 26 hours(9 days in to 24/7 veg) untill i can replace ballast. will this have longterm effects
could slow down growth for a couple of days--once the light schedual gets back to normal you should be fine.

Heat mat activated!

Before I used the paper towel method, and they popped overnight. I probably have some taproots already, they just haven't pushed through to the surface yet.

What you say about the micro root hairs makes sense. I have 5 seeds that I sprouted the day before this class started using paper towels to jiffy plugs - it will be interesting to compare the two methods.
good job.

too late for a burnout like me to join?
the more the greener:weed:

kept the seeds in the cup of water for an extra day and they sprouted roots allready 1 seed about 1/4 of an inch an another just barely starting to poke out the shell. ill give em to morning then stick em in a medium. sorry i didnt follow ur instructions all the way but hey it worked and it seems it worked faster than planting them in soil in little red cups
Some of the seeds can sprout in under 24 hours---The 24 hour method is used to soak the seed---we try to get the seeds out of the water by 24 hours so there is no stress from sitting submerged in the water once the seed cracks----You will have 48 hours on your seeds before even getting them into a medium---Post some picks so we can use them for comparison at the end of the germinating section.

here are the pics of area they are in. the temp is 80*. i dont have the cups yet but will soon. looking nice----did you soak the seeds or use another method?.

I just went and checked my seeds... they are cracking and the tap root is starting to sneak out. I'll plant them tomorrow evening.

in the grow pic- on left himalaya gold im follwing the class with...(for some reason i thought they were called pigmy gold but they are himalaya gold) next to it is powerskunk i started 11-26-08 wit paper towel method and when it sprouted put in soil and pressed the soil.... and in the rockwool cube a himalaya gold that i germed in the cube 1-2-09, it sprouted in 24 hrs
i got two 27watt cfl's giving that blue light

:?: close up on cube---the red circled area is like a blemish of the camera and the plant side touching the red circle is dangling in the air and is white and seems like the main root is growing there and where it bends is a violet like color and as it goes into the rockwool seems to get greaner, i was thinking maybe the leaf system is stuck in the cube, Think the plant germed upside down?? p.m me on that one DOC

Plant them as soon as you can.

No---it's fine and normal-----just plant after 24 hour soak.

Update----I have 2 poking their head out of the soil so those 2 took 60 hours or 2-1/2 days to break soil---I will take pics tonight or tomorrow morning--hopefully the rest will have broke ground-----I have done the germination of seeds many times with seedlings taking 48 to 72 hours to break ground so on average 3 days from dry seeds.---This method 1. germs seeds fast. 2. Is low stress on the seedlings(this will allow all the seedlings energy to go into root health and development for the first 2 weeks) 3. Low stress promotes more females. 4. Using the cup method and allowing the tap root 4" of downward growth from the top of soil-line promotes more females.

Doc, got a question man. I was a couple of days late getting my seeds into the soil. (Had a major family issue to arise, buts all good) I now have them in soil, covered in suran-wrap under a 2 footer cfl. The seeds stayed in water for 3 days. Do you think they will still grow. They never showed any roots or anything, but they soaked the entire time.

You could post a journal and save in with your album---when we get to rapid cloning then we could compare. Kind of hard to compare seeds----vs----clones. But more than happy to have you on board-just save that info for when we get to "Rapid Cloning"----THANKS.

water temp might have been really cold or strain is a slow germer-----Only thing you can do is plant and wait---I would use a heat mat if you have assess to one--might help you catch up.

the plants are the clone of the 7 week old plants i got growing now on the top half of the grow box.
Very nice brother please save the info and pics and bring it up latter when we get to that section----Thank You.

Note to all----Thank you for the positive reps but your success means so much more than the "REPUTATION RPM GAUGE:mrgreen:" ---Hope you learn something that will help you in your Medicinal grows.
