PC GROW (pics) looking for tips on my LST and what I can do better to minimize growth

Ok. I'm going to flush tomorrow with low 6 ph water until the water looks clear and then after i've "flushed" i'm going to give it florabloom. I understand the flush is to get rid of salt buildup but I doubt it would be smart to wipe out all the nutes in the soil and then not feed it for another 2-3 days while the soil dries completely. Also thanks for your help bro.

Hey, we are all struggling toward the same goal, in the end. :0)

I am glad to have helped. Post an update. I will hope for good news.

I am on only my second serious grow, but it, and #1, seem to be going flawlessly.

Take care,

JD

ok I'm going to go ahead and flush until the water coming from the bottom looks clear. I don't know the exact size of my pot so I can't go three times it. I've hearing that I have too much N as well. Too much N can cause the claw and the dark leaves. I'm going to lay off my 15-30-15 and stick with 0-5-4 for awhile. When do you think I should switch back? Think when I start to see a N deficiency?
My last couple plants, every 5th or 6th water/ feed, I would run about 2-3 gals. through the pot, then the last one would be with my nutes in it.
That way, I would be rinsing out any buildup then leaving fresh nutes in the soil (Or that was my thinking anyway.).

Question: when should i stop LST and tightening up my already existing training? I'm a month and one in a half week into flower

Just keep going man....
I kept after mine until the very end.
About every couple days, I would either tighten or change the angle of my string to keep the canopy spread out and even height as much as possible.

Just read through most of your thread. Looks pretty good...especially for a new grower in such confined spaces.

As for the training, the vert growth should have almost stopped, now just growing in bud height so training won't have to be done as frequently. Looking at those pics from last week, you still have a ways to go. Maybe another month or so.

I bet the curling was salt buildup. The yellow leaves at the bottom is pretty normal too. especialy if they are getting wet and touching the soil. I would give them a light tug and see if the plant has tried to exfoliate them...or even snip them yourself (Could go back and forth on that arguement, to trim or not too....I like to a little, helps air flow below canopy...) Up to you on that one.

I like the pot you chose (Tuperware?). Shape is good...the more soil you can fit the better. can't remember now but important thing is to paint or tape over it so light is NOT getting to actual roots.

I think you should try scrogging the next one. easier to train.

Just a few thoughts I had while reading. Looks good though

seriously though my plant is just forming a rectangle like the pc box. The fan leaves are blocking light from the bottom nodes and rest of the stems AND I cant LST horizontally because the PC box won't allow it...i'm pretty much fucked other than my main cola =/

Don't cut any fan leaves, and don't worry too much about about the other stuff, just use logic, and try to get the light into as much of the plant as you can as possible.
Just try to spread things out as best as possible, to make the light penetration as even as you can get, remembering that beyond a couple/ three inches, the CFL's are pretty much ineffective.

I am one other side of cutting fan leaves. I don't mind cutting a few to free up light penetration and air flow. The reality is if you aren't getting fresh air to bottom of the plants, you are going to effect yeild and quality. That is not saying cut every fan leaf. Just the ones crowding the middle. Fan leaves are still beneficial and what rovide a lot of energy and fuel reserves for the buds... And about the horizontal training, if you outta room you got to stop. But again, most of the growth will be in bud formation at this point. so a ton of height be gained now. How close are you to the lights?

nice, it's awesome that you got the HPS in your case. How much was your ballast? Here's a pic of how close my lights are..im really trying to get them as close as possible. Also in the last 2 days this started to show up on some leaves, any idea what it is? 0401131525a.jpg0401131606.jpg

also your buds looked HUGE...and if you only got like half a oz on yours i bet i wont get shit on mine =/ Are the yellowing of your leaves because you flushed for awhile and they were nute deficient? I also wonder why no one who does PC grows seem to have a power strip that goes vertically in their box? Everyone has one horizontally on top, but no one is doing it going across AND down? Thinking that the more lumens the better it seems like an obvious idea. I didn't want to spend more money on CFLs and adapters. Granted I have a small case for that, but even so it wouldnt really cut down on much room and really get to penetrate underneath the leaves.

like this.pngsloppy but you get the idea

I think the worry about 6 cfls is heat created...and space. with an LST or Scrog, sidelighting is not very important. The spots on the leaves are lower right? I think based on the dark color of the leaves they are getting tons of nuts and could back off a bit there. Also, if the leaves get splashed when watering your basically folar feeding at way to high a concentration (Which will burn the leaves right where the splash is).

My yellowing is 2 fold. A long period of flushing, but also cal/mag deficiency that I seem to get due to my soilless mixture. However, it is fairly normal for the plant to yellow a bit at the end. The fan leaves are like a fuel reserve. By flushing and starving, you force the plant to use them as a food source. I have no proof, but I feel this helps with resin production right at the end of flowering
