Peyote AND Peruvian Torch

Hello all,

Recently, I have acquired 4 live 15 year old greenhouse grown lophophora williamsii plants from a trusted cultivator and plan to harvest very soon. Due to the relatively high cost of the buttons that's all I can afford.

Now, herein lies my question: Because 4 buttons may not suffice due to the unknown potency of my peyote, I have decided to purchase some powdered trichocereous peruvianus to supplement the experience, if necessary.

Has anyone experimented with this?

use the torch to trip, let the yotes flower and polinate with makeup brush, then use fruit to produce your own yote seed. Buy some pereskiopsis and graft seedlings on the tips (google), they will be about the size of golf balls in a year....

Hey ANC,

I plan to keep my own colony going, now that you mention it. I've got forty seeds which I'll be germing soon, along with a fresh berry that'll be ready to pluck from its fibrous nest from one of the cacti I received. Should be full of a lot of fresh seeds! And surely I'll be carving with precision during harvest in hopes of new pups forming.

I totally understand your position, ANC. I, too, am a bit weary and feel guilty of hurting the little teenagers, hence my 'take from the earth, give back to the earth' attitude towards this whole situation. But I know I'll be using them respectfully and with purpose as well as continuing the species in my home.

I've heard that grafting absolutely increases growth, but aren't they more like bags of water when grown so quickly? Do they not need time to mature? They may be large, but contain little essence, if you catch my meaning.

But to return to the op, ever heard of the two being combined?

I do enjoy your pursuit of keeping these ailing creatures alive ;)

It's one of my great endeavors to come in contact with Peyote, and one day enjoy her among the hilly slopes!

What a killer quote by the way by Mr. Huxley ;)

Hey ndanger!

Good to meet you! I've seen you in all the other peyote/mesc threads and I was wondering if you'd notice this one ;)

I truly can't wait until I can start raising the little guys. It's going to be a hell of an experience. I feel if I'm going to take the sacrament and hopefully be welcomed into that world, the least I can do is to keep the spirit alive.

And I have a dirty secret to disclose.. As I have been doing EXTENSIVE research on the subject, I stumbled across the writings of Aldous Huxley, which, I sadly admit, have not really thought about since high school. I came across numerous quotes and found them fascinating and enlightening. Then I found myself reading a mesc thread here on RIU in which you and ANC were avidly debating. I then noticed your sig.. and thought "Fuck, I love his quotes. I'm going to put one up too."

So there you have it, my secret is out...

And thanks for keeping this thread alive.. thought I was gonna have to bump it!

:peace:

It was my signature that inspired you to dig deep into the writings of Aldous and paste it here on RIU... heartwarming nonetheless ;)

You're transporting those cacti? What kind of living conditions surround you?

... and it was great squandering with you too ;)

You're awesome Ndanger!

Transporting them? Nope. I've actually got them in my grow room with my other ladies awaiting their journey with me.

I live in the Canadian North where conditions are certainly not optimal. But hell, I think I can at least try to imitate Mother in the grow room. I've been blessed with a grow space that tends to be very dry. I'll be able to pull it off. In the summer it still gets pretty warm here, a little humid, but they will be ok I hope.

If it's meant to be, it will be right?

Just by your words, it seems like you'll make one suitable mother for all your green-tiered friends!

I do ever wish I had a lot to grow some succulent CACTI!

Canada ahhhhh, I always wanted to dabble in Vancouver ;)

Hey Ndanger,

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement, my friend :D

You live in LA right? Is that not a suitable climate to grow some wooly friends of your own? Or any cacti for that matter.. It's warm and dry there, is it not?

Yes I do reside in California... and the conditions are dry, airy, suitable and comfortable enough for cacti to thrive! However, I don't have the land to keep them afloat...

How did you come about getting Peyote... thats such a hard find!

Ah yes, I understand. If I were to grow a TRUE colony in every sense of the word, I would also want to plant them into the earth. Understood.

I am lucky enough to live in a country where peyote can be freely grown and distributed. Consumed? Well, technically yes. And no. Mescaline is illegal, but not while naturally calling the cactus home. I think it's practically the same situation with San Pedros and Peruvian Torches etc. in your country: Ok to grow and distribute, but consuming for illegal purposes or extracting mescaline is a big no-no.

So as a result of my blessed freedom I located a commited and passionate cultivator from the UK. Not through some online shop, but a private grower. He's been growing for 30 years and knows his passion. EXPENSIVE though.. But he's the real deal.

Do you have any intentions in doing a mescaline extraction ;)
Though I have an extensive entheogenic background, this will be my first adventure into the realm of mescalito. Being a virgin, I would like to experience the full alkoloidal benefit this great plant has to offer. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but this is where I have been guided.

Indeed!

The cacti has a lot of other hidden nutrients that you wouldn't get then mescaline alone ;)

Geez, I would kill to be in Canada. Here in America Peyote is scarce...and possession of it is illegal also!

The only two here that are legal to possess and grow are Peruvian and San Pedro... low alkaloid content :(

What part of Canada are you from?
Ontario.. Home of Premier 'Slimeball' McGuinty whom you should be proud never to have even heard of.. My apologies, I just don't appreciate demons running my province and he's been on my mind lately :cuss:

I'm a few short minutes away from Toronto. Love it here :D

Maybe next year I can stop by and you can have one of your sacred teas ready for me ;)

You have relatives or people you know here? Very nice. No one I know appreciates or even knows about this journey I'm about to partake in, except my brother, who kind of appreciates it. I'm surrounded by closed minded people who look down upon any substance that alters or expands your conciousness.

It's a shame really..

I'm really glad to see so many allies of the cacti  I recently have had access to peyote powder from the Native American Church. I must say that peyote is a very special teacher. However i have come to the conclusion the other Cacti are just as special and just as powerful teachers.

make what you want of the rest of what i have to say.

i have communed with mescalito in his native land, i have been shown the way by the white wolf and it is with the andean relatives that our future lies.

enough of that....lol . Cactus tea is a good way to get all of the good stuff, not just mescaline... i think this next time i'll make a cactus tea and dry it and cap it.
