Thanks for reply all this things being weird about replies cause it's my first day but here's pics. All 2 weeks after germ. All DWC except one straigh coco. My hypothesis on the light sick one was mag def. I got a better cal mag and def started growing quicker. I def will do RW again when I try aeroponics. Ps 1000watt hps 6" exhaust

I thought it look like mag too but hard to be sure, I add a little Epsom salts or cal-mag to every gallon as preventative
-good luck

If you guys think 600hps is middle of the road average grower you are crazy lol

Most are growing in there closets with CFLs or 130w mars panels / blurples

I grow with a 600w HID setup myself for personal use and throw away alot of product it just makes to much lol but I need the coverage

depends...soil or hydro or peat...

6-7 for soil (it will swing naturally/buffer). Don't have to be to precise.
around 5.3-6.3 for hydro.

Not sure on peat but I think its in the middle of them

Medical people need more, for example I need 30 plants dude with like as many WATTS as I can MUSTER. And don't throw shit away ever, make edibles with it, freeze your cookies if necessary, do not despoil this plant by THROWING AWAY good psychoactive material! Sheesh!!!!

I'd argue most growers on here run 600s just going by the threads. Sure beginners start with CFLs and cheap leds. I still use a 130w cfl on occasion for veg/propagation in cooler weather. In fact I run a 600 hid a 200w led a 25 w led and the 130w cfl at diff times of the year..
o and a 25w fluro..

You could always sell your un wanted product.

For soil I don’t check or care about ph, hydro( any soilless base ) should be around 5.5 to 6.5. Using these parameters I’ve never ran into ph issues, root rot or anything like it. @Tfunk0704 man in my experience I’ve never had good luck with rock wool. I general stick with rapid rooters and use it with burpees 10 day self watering trays, using those you run less of a chance of dampening off and killing your babies.

I loved Rockwool! Man it was so easy - once you conditioned it properly first... As the plant grows in. The plant will condition it more..

Personally, my favorite thing for ebb trays and SOG!

@HotKarl2

Nice work! You have the watering sched down too... My ebb tables got 5 hits a day - Evenly spaced from one right at lights on to one right before lights out (the carry over to lights on hit)

My only problem with rockwool....Getting rid of the used material..

It stated for soil in the paragraph. Your not in soil. Soils have buffers if they’re good soil anyhow thus why I never check soil ph. I only check my hydro room. My soil room is auto pilot. Simply water and let it go.

I just have to chime in a bit here.

Yes, for the most part, true soil grows can be water and forget it! Yet, I have a cpl of pheno's that have serious pH fussyness! I have a Ghost pheno that simply has to be held by it's hand and nursed by keeping it's pH above 6.4 at all times! She drops bellow for any length of time by repeated low swings.. She jumps into pH issues real, real fast in bloom!

Why do I keep this particular pheno? It has higher concentrations and a real different soaring kind of high vs the more "common" Ghost pheno's. She has never grown with any kind of typical/traditional OG kind of structure. Tall and lanky from day one..Long, drawn out, dense budding on the mains..Yes, it is ghost. Same odor, taste, etc.. But the hit/buzz is simply BOLD and outstanding. You get hit by waves of "Oh man, I'm soo fucking high!"....I and others can't get over her..

It is such a bitch to run. I only do a small amount as a pvt reserve and get a very premium rate for it, and only to select customers... I do still run Ghost in 2 other pheno's. This bitch pheno is an IBL of the others...Both from the same source. One of those I call the Magic carpet ride pheno.. She's where that soaring buzz came from... I just recently, got a cpl of new ghost clones from SW Cali to see what that can bring into the equation....

The other is a real odd Sativa heavy pheno of Pineapple Express That's it in my avatar. Not as fussy as the bitch ghost but she is run side by side with her... Does NOT like lower pH swings!

These are the only 2 strain pheno's I bother to pH all in-going solutions to.... Sometimes, you have to do, what you have to do....

The other point would be;
By far the vast bulk of growers would have shit canned that Ghost pheno... I got lucky as she "told" me early in the first pheno hunt that she was going to be a bitch to run. I decided to actually care for her and to just see what she would turn out to be like....Made the right call on her "issue" and got her through bloom clean and normal after her first "message for help" from her...

She's such a bitch, she is limited in running like I said earlier but, the value in her uniqueness to me and several long time connoisseur friends. Priceless!

Don't be too hasty to shit can problematic pheno's from working gear....

Other "odd" observations..

I have found that it seems like if you have a pheno that has a peculiar "crinkly leaf" structure as it starts, and tends to go away as she grow in veg... These tend to be more potent in the end..
Now, I'm not going to say that this is always true but, For the 4 strain pheno's I got doing it. It is true. Now I have a new OG 18 (1 of 1) and Gelato pheno (1 of 2) that are displaying this trait.
So, if this holds true for these....I might be onto something...

Let me know if any of you have seen this...I know of 1 seed marketing breeder has seen something like this in a cpl of strains too... So I'm kinda looking for more outside data on this theory..

PEACE

Love rw, will never use any media. Like Dr. Who here said, only problem is getting rid of them after, I normally just smash them to bits and pieces.

You cant overwater rw if you don't let it sit in water. You can literally pour a gallon of water on a 4x4 or dump the whole media in a barrel of water as long as you remove the excess water after doing so, plant will be fine. It's the fast draining property of rw, reason why you cant over water it. The trick in using rw is you have a well drain container where your rw sit.

That said, you can have a system where rw actually sit in water or a constant flow of water. This will make rw soak through and through, it has sponge like property, really fast and strong wicking property. With this kind of system, the trick here is to aerate the water. It's not the water that kills the root, it's the lack of dissolved oxygen in the water.

When it comes to ph, I used to be strictly 5.8 with rw, my solute maybe would swing +-.1. But growing OG Kush, thought me the importance of Magnesium, now I let my ph swing from 5.8 - 6.2, mostly on the 6.

:peace:

I got DWC set up but I keep lava rocks and an inch of free space between that and the water. I have air bubblers to. My first grow ever so hopefully it goes as well as it is now for the next few months.

But your talking about rw in your post not soil. Properly built soil esp my super soil never runs into issues no matter what I plant in it. Not sure why you went on about your ghost in rw as I told him checking ph in soilless media is necessary?

Slight misinterpretation Lord..

I used to do RW

The Ghost IS in soil, as is the PE.....All I do anymore.... Less muss and fuss..

It is EXTREMELY fussy....As much as I want to fold this one out....I just can't bring myself to do it yet...
Ph set for this solution is no lower then 7.0 and prefer 7.2
The whole issue with this pheno, simply astounds me. Never ever saw anything like it but for that PE and she is not that fussy but, needs to not drop below 5.8 in a natural swing...

Light waterings for shorter swing times helps too.
