Plants with very, VERY short internodes.

A friend is using a hydro setup. His first grow ever. He started some in Rockwool. They started sprouting up, but it looks like just leaves popping out. Then another set, and another set. Almost like no internodes at all they're so short. You cant see a stem at all. Oh, he is also using LED's. No idea what kind. Any idea what this is ?

Internodel spacing is critical for correct growth

using bulbs in the 6500 kelvin range will make squat plants

using bulbs in the 2700k(hps) range will make them stretch

always best to use 50/50 during veg for this very reason

to fix

ask you grower to use warm reds/2700 kelvin bulbs

until the desired internode length is reached then continue vegging,

under a mix of 50/50 warm and cool whites

good luck

The lights being too close is what I was wondering. If that were the case, wouldn't it still pop up on a stem, then do this ? Leaves just popped out of the block. Probably planted too deep... maybe ? Thanks guys !

Whats wrong with short internode space,if I may ask?

I always thought that this is perfect so you can get a deeper canopy penetration?!

I think what he's trying to convey is that too short a space between nodes leaves no room to let light penetrate past the top couple nodes to the lower branches, stunting growth in those areas vs same plant with ample stretched nodes would likely have light penetration throughout the entire plant
