so...

is paula deen cookware going to be in the bargain bin now? i hear the stuff is of low quality for the price but my 12 inch skillet is in need of replacing...

seriously, though. i don't get what all the fuss is here. she said some shit, she's getting sued, and her bosses don't want to deal with the shitstorm of being associated with it. what's the problem? nobody makes a stink when an athlete gets their endorsements pulled because they acted in a certain way that the company didn't want a spokesperson acting. maybe they beat their wife, maybe they got caught with some weed, whatever. it really doesn't matter if joe schmoe thinks they should be fired or not. that's for the people running the company to worry about. if people want to support or boycott because of it, who gives a shit?

that being said, anyone who is bitching about her being fired from food network is out to lunch. people who run multimillion dollar corporations don't get that way by employing people that bring the wrong types of controversy. if this whole thing was about 30 year old remarks it would barely be news, but it's actually about the face of a company being completely nonchalant about being racist over a number of years up to and including the present. why should the people running the company have to do that kind of damage control? they're there to make a profit, not wipe paula deen's ass when she makes herself a pariah.

Good riddance, her recipes were a short cut to obesity. About the racism, people can say whatever they like, just don't expect to work for a Food network on cable television if you have the skeletons in your closet exposed.

reminds me of the south park episode, that shit was hilarious.

Yes I think this is the most important question! Me personally if you want to replace your skillet head over to eBay and pick up an old Wagner. Man are they some sweet skillets.

We're I'm from I swear it's not even a issue wen white people say "nigga", honestly yull see jus as many white people from a nice neighborhood sayin "that's my nigga" nd on tha flip yu see black people sayin "dude" all the time. I think black people are jus a racist as white people, then again every race has people who hate other races or think badly of them just cause they're race. I grew up around black kids, went to a dominantly black school and never even thought twice of it.

Haha this sums up how I feel about the situation pretty well...

I will say, I totally respect Food Network for their decision and think they made the smart choice. I have a degree in Marketing - I know how it goes. Still sucks. I wish they gave it a little time to air out before just immediately firing her though. I freakin' love her food... and I'm not remotely overweight nor do I have diabetes... I have self control lol.

Why does a store or a restaurant have to stand for anything other than reasonably priced clothing and good food? Why does the owners personal opinion matter to the customers? Why should he or she be attacked for having an opinion simply because they own a business?
They don't have to stand for anything, that's the owners choice. I think its silly when you are in the game of making money to not take someone's money because they believe in or think that XYZ. I know people who wouldn't take my money simply if they knew I smoked pot, I mean really, for any reason, how fucking dumb is that? Money has no opinion and cant vote so fucking get that shit when you can. I also think its equally as dumb for a person to not purchase goods and services from an individual or company for the same reasons. If Paul is the best painter in town, why do I care that he whacks off to gay porn after work, that's his choice regardless how I feel about it. I just want a good painter at my home the next day when its time to work. And what do I care what he does with the money if he's doing it to himself? Its not my money anymore so I can't get angry what he uses it for, so when I see him coming out of the head shop with a gallon tub of lube and dvds with nothing but dudes on the cover, I have no dog in that fight whatsoever and would be a complete asshole to even open my mouth.

Now, if a business that is known for getting involved "politically" and throwing their weight around in manners that ultimately effect the rest of us, then for sure fuck that business all to hell as they are using their worth to push personal agendas for whatever reason. But again, dudes just doing shit to themselves, I cant argue and would be silly for not giving them my money for goods and services that I desire.

It's just business, people make it personal.

It's called a no tolerance policy... a lot of companies have it. I could care less either way, she's just another redneck with money... money doesn't change values, at least I don't think it does... SH420

And in true media fashion... the only reason you don't use racial slurs is because you do what you have to do to get peoples money?

I'm joking, but that's how the media has turned a lot of this Paula Dean stuff around.

Lol, for a second I was thinking that I was going to have to defend myself against another jumpy dick, lol.

I know what you mean though. It's like no matter what they did, it was going to bite someone in the ass simply because many people are quicker to react than to think and breath a little. Not condoning what she said when ever she said it, just that we all shouldn't be so upset at the words of a day time tv cooking show host, or whatever the hell she did exactly because it's not like she said it on national tv while shaking her finger at the screen. And if she did, well she'd been fired and we can all laugh at what a dumb move she made, and tomorrow someone else will be on the screen.

Deon is a clown, and I love him, but the heart of the matter is very ugly and people like her should not have a public stage. I grew up in the South and most of my friends were minorities (like myself) of all persuasions. When I move to the NW where it's 85% white, I asked a black friend I had made (who was also from a more racially diverse area of the US) how he liked it here, and he said "at least in the South the bigots tell you up front so you know where you stand, here (in the NW) people smile at you and spit on your back". I had to agree that the latter is much worse, of the two horrible views. I think we should know when someone is bigot. If you want to be an ignorant racist, go ahead, but you deserve no place in mainstream media. Let's continue to evolve as a species.

Being southern doesn't have a damn thing to do with anything - especially racism. I was born and raised in Georgia. In Georgia (and the south by extension) if you don't have black friends you don't have many friends. My wife's two best friends are Mexican and Black. Personally I would love to bitch slap Paula Deen for saying what she did and I hope she loses her ass over it. BTW, I have always thought she looked like Miss Piggie.

I'm glad she is off the air. Not because she's a racist. I could care less about that. I'm glad she's off the air because she is idolizing unhealthy, shitty food. Just like that fat fuck from Man vs Food. And the host of the new show, Bacon Nation of some shit like that...

America is fucked. Seriously.

Please tell me you don't think it's because of our diet. We're fucked for oh so many more reasons bigger than eating shitty food and being fat.

Store owners should be neutral and keep their personal preferences out of the store.
Around election time if I see a local business with the other parties propaganda, I
refuse to buy anything from them.
Certain politicians that own chain stores I'll boycott too.

Be damned if I'm giving my money to a person that believes in things against my morales.
