Anyone know whats up with these seedlings. In a mix of soil, compost/ewc, perlite, vermiculite. Very small for 2 weeks old and now they are curling down and turning colors. The white is just diatomaceous earth.
Whats up tim good to hear from you again lol. Its just bagged compost and ewc nothing special. You really think thats too hot?Looks, and sounds like your mix is way too hot. TBH![]()

Ill get em out of that mix then lol. Thanks man. I might go 50/50 ewc perlite?Hey bro!!
Yeah I reckon.
It's your description. They should be a lot bigger at 2 weeks old.
I did the same thing, one time with some outdoor soil. Instead of buying seedling mix.
My mix was way too hot. Sprouts never got past their first node.
If you've used the same lights before. I think it's a hot mix for sure.
I reckon just plain seedling mix.Ill get em out of that mix then lol. Thanks man. I might go 50/50 ewc perlite?
How close are the cfl?About 82 constantly and cfls for now till they're bigger.
3-4 inchesHow close are the cfl?
Back them up a bit. They should be fine at that distance but it may be a bit much.3-4 inches
Is there an npk analysis, anywhere on the bagThis was my seedling mix lol its like 80% perlite/vermiculite 20% compost ewc. Ill get a better seedling mix. Thanks
Will do. Thanks.Back them up a bit. They should be fine at that distance but it may be a bit much.
I just don't see your mix being that hot.
The compost doesnt have one. Its black gold brand organic garden compost. Black gold brand castings .8-0-0Is there an npk analysis, anywhere on the bags?
Yeah man. I'd go something milder, TBH.The compost doesnt have one. Its black gold brand organic garden compost. Black gold brand castings .8-0-0
42w 5500k. You can hold em all day they aren't very hot. What type of CFL? anything up to about 25W should be fine even at 1 inch.
It literally as to physically touch a leaf to hurt it.

Just an ordinary seedling mix, from the hardware would be more than ample.
I don't mind those jiffy pellets either. But not practical for your situation right now.
The soil was was fox farms happy frog. Then i added some compost and ewc and its now like 80% perlite/vermiculite. No coir or peat.Is there an npk analysis, anywhere on the bag
How do you prepare your substrates? Perlite, coir, and peat moss?
Did you give each, a really thorough rinse before using?
Did you add any lime or gypsum, to buffer it all?
Cool.Thats .8
