Well cops are still going to arrest people. So there will be a law on the books.

Which means government involvement.

You also don't account for people that cannot grow their own. And there are plenty of those.

I think it needs to be regulated like beer or wine. There are new wineries and brew houses opening all the time.

I think everyone should be able to legally grow it themselves, but if you want to sell it then its pay taxes time.

Simple as that.

Maybe a level of quality assurance if possible without too much bullshit but ultimately the market would decide for itself if its the good shit or not.

Oh if it was that simple it would be a no brainer.
But you see you are either selling a drug or a medicine

Now you will need a permit to grow in a inspected secure facility
tax stamp
USDA inspector
Lab reports
Warning labels
Liability insurance
And FDA approval

Now you want to know who is going to make it really hard and very expensive for you to get all of the above?
Big tobacco. They will Lobby, create front groups and buy all the best politicians they can to ensure they have a secure market.

And you know what else? You will never ever grow the weed Big tobacco can and for as cheap as they can.

It's not even Federally legal and in Arizona you cannot grow your own within 25 miles of a dispensary. Imagine how fucked up it is going to be when it gets federally legal

That last one was handled by a higher authority than yours truly. the details are lefts as an exercise to the student. cn
Hell I thought it pretty mild content for the political section, anyway the content they didn't like could've been removed from a very valid point. It's just silly to think people are going to kumbaya at group orgies and circle jerk each other off in a subject as controversial as politics. If the goal is for calm, rational, and collected conversation they should nix the political forum all together lol.

Well then I guess the problem is your regulations for establishing a business...

I could start a business right now, doing whatever I want (except for food, liquor or cigarettes, there's regulation there) for €20 ($25) and have my registration cert in 3/4 working days. One form to fill out to register for taxes too.

Thats it.

Look at number 1 in OP

Predictions of the nextr 4 years
1 Obama will use an executive order to stop all those who comply with state law to grow and smoke weed. He is still going to go after profiteers though
2 immigration reform. Graham/Shumer have had a bill for 3 years now
3 all Bush tax cuts will expire, do not fear though. A new bill will come along giving tax releif for the middle class
4 Olive branch for the Republicans. Obama will let them claim some of the credit for the economic recovery
5 cuts in military spending
6 Summit with Iran
7 Out of Stan
8 GITMO will be closed
9 Roll back unemployment benefits
10 increased financial aid
11 more subisdys for green energy systems that work
12 election reform?

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Obama has nothing to lose now. And the Republicans realize we cannot have 4 years like the last 4 or they will be gone forever

Not very well worded. But if I edit it now it will look bad

It should say
1 Obama will use an executive order to stop prosecuting all those who comply with state law to grow and smoke weed. He is still going to go after profiteers though

Well as much as its interesting to see your slant on it...those predictions are failing hard.

No mention of Libya, Syria, NSA and Obama hasn't done shit for growers, the people in CO/WA voted it in, Obama merely let the will of the people prevail (for once).

It's amazing to me that we celebrate a president who is only following the constitution. It should be the norm, but it's been such a departure since 9/11 that it's unexpected. Woo Hoo!! the president sort of followed the constitution (with caveats)!! feels weak and desperate.

Imagine the outrage if he had took the initiative and made weed legal. The right would be screaming obamas trying yo hook our kids on drugs
