Big Oils Profits are no longer up there (though the reason why they were up there is because they take a percentage of their revenue as their profit cut. Like any other well ran business.
It is illogical to take a flat nickle ($.05) per gallon if there's no guarantee that the price wont have jumped $.25 by the time you sell the gasoline you bought to sell. Thus you take a percent of the going rate and apply that.
And crude was continuously jumping up.
$150 back last July/August.
Though in truth it wasn't even big oil that was making the majority of the profits on Oil, but traders that were making bets regarding the price of Oil.
As far a big pharma
lots of "sick" people out there, and a lot them don't want to be "sick" so they take drugs.
Drugs for Cold,
Drugs for Flu
Drugs so they can sleep
Drugs so they can stay awake
Drugs so their allergies aren't that bad
Drugs so they can't get pregnant
Drugs so they don't feel sore
Drugs so they can keep eating the 32 oz Steak at Jacks Heart Attack
Drugs for their headache
Drugs for their depression, which they think they have (as opposed to having a pointless existence with no long range goals, or hobbies.)
Drugs for their STDs
Perhaps a better question would what are drugs not taken for?
But that's why Big Pharma has Big Profits.
People demand, they delivered, of course they do have research costs to cover, and thus until generics hit the market they get outsized profits on some drugs.
They also try to find new uses for drugs.

Obamas not really any worse then Bush IMO. I want out of Iraq, that ain't gonna happen, ever. I don't want to be in Afganistan we will be there forever to. I don't want to hand bankers hundreds of billions of our dollars but Bush did it, Obama did it, whatever. He printed out what 600 billion dollars as a down payment on a 1.5 trillion $ universal health care scheme sounds about par for the course didn't bush have huge medicare spending BS to. I don't see any real diffrences at all. All I am bitching about is that Nothing changes. It just gets worse over time.

Jefferson (unsurprisingly) was right, the permitting of a Centralized Bank has made it so that our nation has been enslaved by them. Our properties and assets are controlled by them. Our lives are spent working pointless jobs to surrender a portion of our pay to the government so that it can pay off an ever increasing debt, thus ensuring that we will never escape from slavery.
Obama is just the latest line in a long line of idiots that some how think that the United States should
1. Allow banks to control the money supply
2. And Pay the banks Hundreds of Billions annually in interest payments.
Of course the alternative would be Democrats with the power to print money, and that is actually more terrifying to me than the thought of the banks having control of the money supply.
At least as long as the Banks are loaning the government money imbecilic people like Obama have to at least pretend to have some restraint, less too many people get pissed off about the fact that the government is busy giving large chunks of the national wealth to the banks for using something that the government should have the use of anyway.
Of course, paper money is fake money, and the only reason why its used is because the government has a lot of guns pointed at people and will jail people who refuse to use it, or use something else as currency.
One can only imagine that the reason for this is because if the economy was truly a free market with a free money supply the public would have no qualms about printing up a bunch of worthless pieces of paper labeled US Federal Reserve Notes and giving them to the government come tax time, or maintaining that the goods and services being traded have no par value against dollars, which are of infinite value compared to the goods and services being traded.
Serving your country is a noble cause. I missed VietNam by a couple of years. How did the US involvement in Vietnam as well as Korea preserve our liberty?

My buddies are different. They're not a bunch of shit talking little pricks that stir up trouble and stick their noses where they dont belong. If they are wrong they get corrected. That's one of my obligations to them, to make sure their errors in judgement do not continue. Right the wrong dont continue to pour money and energy into something they have no business in.
To quote Thomas Jefferson concerning the foreign policies of the US "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none". The US has become the police of the world and extended its costly empire to the detriment of its own citizens.
Our sons and daughters die overseas for a cause that isn't ours. Since the end of WW2 the US has spent over $2 trillion on foreign aid but that has not bought us security (or prosperity). Russia was a bigger threat to our security than either Korea or Vietnam yet we managed to avoid war with them. Funny how we dont invade countries that have nukes.

I'm sure you figured out how to evade the draft, I was 19, just got layed off, My buddie had joined and I knew if I didn't join, I'd be drafted later, after I started my life, so I joined. Had there been no draft, I'd have never joined. I was in Nam before the shit got really heavy, but I saw enough to last me a few lifetimes, something you evaded mr "patriot". BTW, My brother was drafted and spent 4 years as a prisoner of war in Nam. He died 5 years ago from health reasons contracted in Nam, so fuck you you sniveling draft evader.

Now, back to the founders, yes i believe there would be another civil war had the founders saw what this country has become. there is no more representation for the people, only the elite radicals who make enough not to worry about things like 70% tax rates.(yes add up your income, property, sales, gas, carbon taxes up and the average american now pays close to 70% of what they earn in taxes of some form) if your wealthy but not rich(175,000-600,000 per anum) you pay even more.

vi if you didnt dodge a draft then you are not a draft dodger, i think he was making a statement in general to the "draft dodgers" out there and not any one person.

Well, you're right of course about still being a soldier, but Med is an exception because: He continually dismisses the ideas of anyone he disagrees with by presenting the straw man of his military service and/or the lack of same by others. Also, he's a phony chest thumper that elevates his "heroism" WAY beyond what it was and that only exists in his mind. In other words, he's a bull shitter, a phony and a personal attacker.
Hey, I admire anyone who has served his/her/our country in ANY capacity, not just the military. But Med, like phony Christians who wear their Christanity on their sleeves, is what I detest.

What you think would be wrong as med has said that he helped people to DODGE THE DRAFT AND WAS PART OF THE UNDERGROUND that helped people to get to canada for a long time, he has also said a large number of things that I am more than unsure of and some are from his being in Vietnam.
one being I don't know a single person that served there that would call it nom I wouldn't, nor would a combat soldier say that he a 50cal. gunner though a great many have been behind one eather on a fire base or mounted on a vehicle.
