Question about rockwool

My last grow I used 6x6x6 inch rockwool cubes for a heavy sativa grow, and was getting so much root growth from the bottom. Is this normal, or bad? Should I go for the 8x8x8 inch rock wool cubes this time? My only concern with those are that the hole doesn’t come precut. But I figure the positive would be a bigger medium would equate to a bigger plant and bigger yield? Has anyone else experienced this?

I grow nft mate. Similar to what you're doing.
The difference is the table is on a constant flood but never gets more than 1mm deep and the top is covered so the roots take over the entire table.
Can drop massive plants in a 4x2inch Rockwool that way. That's a 5x5 space and only took 7 weeks veg. Crazy good way to grow.

Rockwool don’t sucks
It’s the best growing media
Non skilled growers using it sucks
Just don’t use 6x6 cubes they hold too much moisture

First off rockwool is amazing.
Second, you’re always gonna have roots running out in flood and drain cos there’ll allways be a little bit excess water in ur tray and the roots want it, try and cover the tray with some sort of plastic so the light can’t shine on the roots, cut out spaces for ur plants obv.

just cos there’s roots coming from the bottom doesn’t mean you’re rootbound and need more medium, they’re just finding the most efficient way for them to drink water.

I’ve messed around with different sizes for sativas and indicas and found if you constraint sativa roots they stretch less and mature quicker. This was just my findings with a couple runs of haze so deffo not a proper study but it’s good for thought

hope this helps
