I don't know (I don't make & sell the water) - could be because the process for demineralising the water is not hygenically up to the approved health standard, by taking out the minerals they are not saying that it is free of bacteria.

"Natural" mineral water is treated with ultra violet lights to kill off any bacteria before being "fit for human consumption" - I presume that as demineralised water is not intended for drinking, they have not UV treated it.

... but I am just guessing :-)
i used to work at a food processing factory and their "natural spring water" used to be regular tap water knowing our aussie labelling laws demineralised water probably comes from a seweage treatment plant or something dodgy like that.....

Not one of the normal updates ... just a couple of pikkies of one of the ZST'd Red Dragon clones.

The clones were removed from the main plant 32 days ago and the ones being ZST'd in preparation for SCROG'ing are lookin great - would be maybe 6 inches tall if not ZST'd.

First photo is a top-down view showing the way that the leaves arrange themselves to minimize overlapping.
The leaves that actually cover the main stem (and all the branch sites) will be removed when I top the plant to promote branching.
I'll be topping the plant when it has grown maybe another 4 inches, at which time the clones will have about 6 inches of horizontal growth.
Maybe another week after topping, I will put the clones under the screen and switch to 12/12.

The next two photos show a side view of the same clone.
The plant is attached to the training frame with simple clips which can easily be moved as needed.

Any sign of male flowers yet?

Still waiting on the answer to that question.

I applied the CS on the 10th, 11, 12, 13 & 14th November and haven't killed it yet. I can't see any sign of male flowers yet.

The 2 clones that are to receive the pollen are definitely flowering and they hit the unmistakable "hey I'm flowering" stage after just 8 days under 12/12.

The CS plant has been under 12/12 for 5 days so far, so I am hoping that in 3 days time it doesn't decide to go full female flowers ... if it does, then I will just continue with the CS treatment until it changes its mind.

My next photos will be tomorrow - Wednesdays seem to be the day I take my weekly pikkies.
I missed photographing the main plant last week because it seriously looked like crap, it is now looking a bit better but that dodgy pH meter really let me screw it up badly.
I would say that it was stunted so badly that the end result will be a lot less bud then I should have got, it will be good to compare that plant with the second SCROG where I use the 4 ZST'd clones instead of the single plant.
Pikkies tomorrow.

Playing the Waiting Game ... not a lot is actually happening, I am still applying the Colloidal Silver to the pollen clone and there are no signs of male flowers yet, but there are no female flowers either (except the pre-flowers).
All of the pistils on the pre-flowers on the pollen clone are starting to die back from the tip.
As the clone is not starting to produce female flowers as the other clones did by this stage of the 12/12 cycle, so it looks like it may be thinking about the male flowers ...
... the waiting game.

The 4 clones being trained for the next SCROG are all doing well - a bit of yellowing, a bit of overwater droopyness, but they will do fine.
They all have very tight internodes and should end up densely bushy.

The original plant is finally flowering, not much stretching but seems to be comming alive again, quite a few yellowed leaves were removed.

I definitely learnt a lesson with this one ... pH does matter, and if you have a $10.00 pH meter you may as well stick it up your arse because it is going to fuck you anyway.

I am growing without a pH meter until my new one arrives so the plants just get tap water, it can't be "that" bad.

Do you think the CS was strong enough? I saw a demo where were pumping in 27v dc (3 9v batteries in series) for 24 hours to make strong CS.
I'm thinking that it might be strong enough, the development of female flowers has definitely been delayed compared to the other 2 clones.
The deterioration of the preflower pistils is another indication that the CS has had an effect on the plants sexuality.
Just playing the waiting game ... waiting for signs of maleness and going cross-eyed searching for balls.

I will continue with daily doses of CS until either it shows full blown female flowers or until it produces pollen, meanwhile ... the 2 clones that are destined to have seeds are budding very nicely which is a great indication that the kessil light is working.

If it turns out that the CS is not strong enough, I will run the charger for 48 hours ... in fact I will start that today as I am nearly out of CS.

I'm still waiting for signs of male flowers and so is this little girl - she desperately wants some pollen.

RD Clone 101123.jpg

Judging by the length of time that it is taking to produce male flowers, I don't think it was necessary to give this girl and her sister a head start - they are going to be well advanced by the time the pollen is available.

This is the first macro pikkie that I have taken and it looks like this strain might just produce a little dusting of trichomes as it develops.

The photo is after 20 days of 12/12.

I've read that it can take 3 or more weeks to turn male, but I am patient and will continue until I get a result ... the CS has only been applied for about 2 weeks so far, it is definately slowing down the female fowering but no balls just yet.
