Getting a proxy server app will solve that problem, to an extent at least.

When I test my browser, I appear to others as a user from Turkey, Mexico, or Egypt, just to name a few.

hayduke are you involved with ASA or Norml or any of those organizations? I'm an ambassador for ASA. I'm doing everything I can including weekly emails, faxes, postings and attending every event that I can support. If we all put the energy into legalization that we do growing, it would be legal right now. I've put my name on lists that a lot of people won't because they fear exposure.
No I am not. I sign petitions with my real name.

They were focusing all of their resources on busting big phony "pharmaceutical" companies selling viagra and such. He said that most of them were funding terrorist groups.
This reaks of propaganda BS. Policy dictated by drug company lobbyists. Typical.

As for the pedophiles getting away with their crimes, and therefore we should not be smart and have nothing to worry about....these people are all computer geeks, and take all sorts of precautions to not be found...this is probably where the whole proxy thing came from.

Don't taunt LEO, and in all aspects of life...if it sounds too good to be true...chances are it is not true. Now do nice low mileage used cars in good running order get sold off of used car lots...probably...but more often than not, and at the very least, the carpets and engine compartment have been spray painted to look like they are new(er)....I just had a great idea! They have carfax for used cars...how about used girl/boy friends/spouses?

The audience was made up of record label people, filmmakers and lawyers. Why would the Department of Justice want to piss them off?

Because the DOJ is the government and isn't answerable to anybody that was in that room? I don't think they WANT to piss anyone off...maybe they just wanted for these people to stop pestering them to do work that the DOJ didn't feel was important.

As it was already said, it is not a matter of pissing them off. It was the DOJ making an excuse for why they are not doing anything about the issues that effect the MPAA and SAG, without coming out and saying that they really do not give a shit about copyright law. They at least attempted to passify the audience by using the ever present threat of "terrorism!" They used this same shit to justify enforcement of mexican pot. It smelled like bullshit to me and consider the source...his lips were moving:mrgreen:

Is that a lawyer crack? I understand where you're coming from but my daughter just graduated from law school and she's one of the good guys.

No it was a pig crack.

I really do not have a problem with lawyers...they perform a necessary service, and sometimes evil. I get that a good defense attorney is defending the rights of all of us when they defend someone who is guilty. Better 100 guilty men go free, than a single innocent spend a day behind bars.

Despite all they do, your fate is then in the hands of 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty, and one kook of questionable intentions.

Question for admins,,,

Since security is obviously an issue. Why is the server kept in the US? This leaves it open to be inquired upon by any US law enforcement authority. If RIU admins care about their members and their site, they can move it easily to a data center in Europe, middle east or south america. This will basically eliminate the riskiness involved with posting on this site. The fact that the server is on US soil is concerning to begin with.

that would be an excellent thing to do

I dont know any admins personally. But I think we should push for a move to an offshore server. They might even save money on monthly server fees. Ive been posting on ICMAG.com . Its a more itnernational community and the server is based in the netherlands.

I wont be posting any more incriminating stuff on this server and I would like to have the opportunity to delete my posts that are already in the database. From what I can tell RIU is basically working hand in hand with police. If they ask for the info they hand it right over. kind of like this

kiss-ass

RIU should be more concerned about this and "we' the members should be vocal about it. I think that once the word gets out that this site is US based and is taking no precautions to protect its members, smart people will look elsewhere. Sure you can use a proxy and cover all your tracks but Its a pain and not full proof.

In conclusion:

1. Let me delete my posts. Let me get a clean slate here.

2. Move the server outside the US. Specifically somewhere where cyber authorities do not have intimate relations with US officials.

PS. this site has been great for info and its a huge wealth of knowledge. But its only a matter of time until it gets more publicity such as show up on CNN or something and they start getting subpoenaed.

I really do not think you mean literally.

I am in Cali and 215 legal with the exception of the occasional few extra clones for the ex-wife's garden and a few others. I get a little more nervous when I have a few extra, especially like now when the smell is high with 3 girls near done at once. But I really do not worry about what I post, including the pics.

But if I lived in any state not already MMJ friendly, I would not post shit pic wise at least. My friends in the midwest were sketched to sign up to see pics, and post nothing.

Anyone who thinks that local LEO do not have the resources or time to pursue internet cannabis "crimes"...Riverside County responded to and purchased medical clones from an ad on craigslist, and busted two houses.
I would not be suprised if this is not what they mean when they say the bastard was put on "administrative duties" after shooting some poor schmuck in the back, or like in SD...Frank White, unloading his personal weapon into a car with a young mother and her young son, from his personal car while off duty, with cops blocks away following his dispatcher wife calling 911.

That makes a lot of sense.
