After many sucessful transactions with Herbies Seed Bank I have just been robbed completely of $145. I received a single sentenced email reading:

Order #734901 problem

Hello ****

You've sent us a copy of your order #734901 but there's no payment in the envelope?

Regards

....

The envelope had $145 enclosed.
Don't order from Herbies Seed Bank. They are a blatantly fraudulent entity. Please spread the word if you can and perhaps it will save a poor bastard like myself from pissing away good money for absolutely nothing in return.
Now that I think of it where is the rest of the emails?

You didn't answer them back and say the money was sent?

Or did you just call them thieves right after that?

This should have been the first question that should have been asked. They have a good rep about making things right so it is just hard to believe. But a follow up email should have been sent already I'd imagine right op?? What did they say?? Again THIS SUCKS WHEN THIS HAPPENS but follow up with the bank in question is very important as they have no reputation of f###### people over.. or if you want others here to believe it. No disrespect to the op but if you have done this a few times it is basicly protocol to follow up and post results for others to weigh in on... plus alot of competitors come on here and bash good banks when there is nothing wrong just a this guy sucks buy form this guy type deal... hard to decide who is full of shit with no proof or emails etc to back it up. But I'm sure that is not what you were trying to do... but... it happens.... often... Happy growing :bigjoint:

P.s. send an email and follow up.. but it was prob a post worker who screwed you. Best of luck to you sir!

The only explanation would be a postal worker opening the original envelope, removing the cash and invoice, then replacing just the invoice in a new envelope and sealing it up as well as including the senders and receivers address on the front in order to make it appear original. There is no other expanation. Ive ordered countless times from Herbies, back when they took a credit card. I wouldnt and didn't send an envelope with an invoice and no payement. The order was 100 gpd which converted to 143 usd at the time and i sent 145 in 7 20s and 5 1s. Can you send me a picture of the front and back of the envelope you received?

No. They didn't have to replace the envelope. You can steam one open in a few seconds and then seal it back up.

Some of the generic cheap envelopes you can gently peel open.

I have received mail that looked tampered with but it was just crappy glue and it didn't seal.

Wow i didnt even know that but i used packing tape over the seal as well. Is that susceptible to being tampered with steam as well?

You send cash, it's always a gamble, especially so many bills. Nice of them to accept cash because it puts them in a shitty situation when this happens. But so much easier than many payment options.

Sure. Cut it with a razorblade then steam it open. Close it back and carefully put tape over the original tape. It would hardly be noticeable.

I had a special coin I sent someone get stolen. I was young and didn't think postal workers would steal it. I even taped it to several sheets of paper.

The person I sent it to sent the envelope back to me. Someone felt the weight of the coin or the fell of it. I thought I had enough paper to hide it. The person took a sharp blade and cut one side of the envelope and taped it back.

Yea. Thieves work for the postal service. Think of how many hands it goes through.

Hell I bet they even targeted it because they figured out what to look for.

Next time use a card or international money order. Might even be able to do a money gram.

You guys get your mail resealed, generally i just get the opened letter delivered, complete pisstakers i tell you.

But either way i dont know why you dont use a bank in your own country, even sealed stealthed wrapped and taped i wouldnt send anything of value through the Uk postal system...

Hate crime them? The envelope was untampered upon their recieval. I suppose the mail workers are composed of magicians as well. They have run a good service for you and many others for many years. Nice. Me too.
Unless you tape over every "join" of the envelope to "double seal" it, then even I can pop open an envelope and reseal it so it looks like it hasn't been tampered with and I ain't a postal worker who will have more knowledge on how to do such things.

Sorry, your fault, if you send ANYTHING of value, even a money order, then you shouldn't use regular mail but should at least make sure it's registered mail and follow the advice whitebb has given regarding disguising the contents.

Did you tape over ALL the "seals" or just the bit you lick and stick down?

I'm going to go for the latter, meaning that there were two other "access points" that could be opened, to start with.

And why you couldn't use your own debit card with a UK or Dutch (Most UK debit cars are also Maestro cards iirc) bank is beyond me.

Edit. Just seen Herbies is a UK bank which accepts UK postal orders, bank transfer, UK money orders, UK bankers draft and Bitcoin as well as cash. Why in hell's name you would send cash when you have so many other options is beyond me.

Thats some fucked up shit, man. Crazy to think someone employed as a mail handler would go out of their way, sabotage their job and manage to be such piece of scum. Ive never been robbed by postal services before but what can go wrong will. Hopefully they can send a picture. I would think the envelope would be withered by the moisture or steam. Or perhaps upon closer inspection there were 2 layers of packing tape. The evidence has to be evident. Im sure mail carriers carry envelopes and it would be hypothetically best to just completely reseal the contents in a near identicle envelope and entirely void any notions of tampering with federal mail. The whole situation is quite shitty.

Then, depending on the bank, there's WU, direct bank transfer, PayPal, Bitcoin...

So many options, and Herbies has them as noted above. Only a fool would send cash

Welcome to the real world, where not everyone is as honest as we are here (well, I'll take a guess at most of us anyway).

Like baggage handlers at airports, postal workers can be thieving bastards and do so on a regular basis.

Lesson learned, I hope, as nobody is going to give you your money back even if you could find the toerag who did the thieving.

My first order from greenpoint I sent in a money order and that shit got stolen and cashed. I live in oregon and greenpoint is in colorado so not a huge distance but enough for some meth head postal worker to say "snag."

That's the game. I didn't blame greenpoint because it wasn't their fault. Shit happens, it sucks and it's happened to me three times now. 1st time was in 2004 when Marc emery got busted and I had a couple orders at his shop that got snagged and even received one of the feds bait letters in the following sting, 2nd was an order to seedboutique aka gypsy nirvana, both of those orders cash and the feds got one. Third time was the only money order to greenpoint I've had snagged.

Shit happens so take it like an adult and not a crybaby like bitty.

Debit cards and Paypal are outlawed globally for the sale of legal seeds and spores that are used to make illegal products.

I think credit cards are still useable but im grey area here and dont aee it much.

I just bank transfer for herbies but im Uk so its easy, the payment account is 'Discreet Gif', bank workers think im buying sex toys every month although i keep on saying its just weed seeds.

Seems like easier to believe im a pervert rather than an illegal grower, great country... not!
