Looking absolutely fantastic. I think I switched to bloom nutes too quickly cause they are showing slight signs of nute burn.

Every grow I have done, I switched to 12/12 and switched nutes on the very same day.
This is experimental, waiting to switch nutes, I am giving it all I got to get that pound of harvested dried manicured buds.

A good personal friend named Mogie gave this to me. She left RIU and went to a different site, but did say I can use this. I need to move it toward the front of this tutorial but I can't.

Topping a Plant

1. Locate the very top of your plant and cut through the main stem just below the newest growth. This should be done after the 3rd or 4th leaf set but can be done at any time after the 3rd leaf set.

2. Shows Plant Top cut off and where the 2 new Branches that will form a "Y" in the main stem will grow from.

3. Shows the newly topped plant after 2 days of growth, notice the Y in the Stem Forming.

FIMMING A PLANT!

Fimming is actually no different that topping, what fimming does is virtually the exact same thing only your leaving part of the new growth. This only takes of part of the new growth and actually topping the very very new growth which is very hard to see.

What this ends up doing is making it seem as if your getting 4 new tops right next to eachother when its actually only 2 at the very top (like topping) but since it was cut so closely to the next newest set of fanleaves 2 branches which would have formed there anyways seems to make it look like there is 4 new tops.

This is how you go about doing this.

1. Locate the very top of the new growth

2. With a clean sterilized scissors, Fold the fan leafs over and cut approximately 80% of the new growth off the plant.

3. View from the top showing the Cut

4. View of the Cut section after 2 days growth, showing the 4 new growth shoots (branches)

Well, I got home and found my old handy dandy magnifying glass and I decided to look at my plants nodes.

I hope this pic is clearly visable to you when enlarged. At the upper top visable node, two little hairs (pistils) can be seen in the caylx. And this is only 6 days after starting the 12/12 Light Cycle.

I am just showing you my magnifying glass in the 2nd pic. I am not trying to show you anything through the magnifying glass.

Let me make myself clear here. I am certainly not the most knowlegable hydroponic grower for sure! But I have read at least 14 books that I have on the shelf now. I have been a very active member of a couple of Forum Grow Websites for three years. I do read a alot about Hydro growing. I am also a stoner and can not remember what I used to could remember.

Everything I have ever read says that Males show PRE-FLOWERES first, and that the biggest, tallest, fastest growing plant in a group is always a Male. Let me also state I have very poor vision and my color blindness adds to the difficulty of seeing different shades of green.
But I found this female Pre-Flower first and I can not find a Male Pre-Flower anywhere. And it is my 2nd tallest fastest growing plant!

I am amazed and just telling you what I found.

I hope you get a decent magnifying glass and look at yours too.

Rose,

First, Yes you are the most knowledgeable hydro grower around these parts that is ready, willing and able to share all they know with others. The sharing part sets you apart.

Second, it could be that they are all female and you are looking for the ghosts of males past!

Third, Sometimes the big beefy ones can turn out to be girls ( exception to the rule kind of thing) and then you know you have a monster in the works.

Don't be so modest Roseman. You are the most knowledgeable hydro grower that I know. Or, like crazy said, you are just the most helpful. Thanks for all you've done and congrats on the female!

i would recommend no one but roseman to anyone learning hydo. he is the man, and is the most helpful person you can probably count on.

Congratulations on the first female Rose!!! I know how great it feels!
+Rep for a great and informative journal!!!

GREAT stuff, thanks.
I need a little clarification and confirmation on the water's pH. Neutral is too high, correct? Goal is between 5.9, 6.4? I tried to listen but didn't understand this :/

Yes you are correct. Anywhere between 5.5 and 6.5 is ok but 5.8-6.0 is ideal. Do not chase your pH. If it falls in the range of 5.5-6.5 then leave is until it leaves that range and when you do adjust do not adjust by more than .5 at a time.
