actually the stems do contain thc. i use to save mine and make hash oil with them and it makes good hash oil aswell. but i agree about smoking it, it would taste nasty

a feminzed seeds is nothing but a seed from hermie plants. In my opinion it is better to paty less of a price for reg seeds and just weed out the males
 
i always thought a femi seed was the pollen from a hemi plant pollenating a true female. thats what i read so i assumed it would be true...lol...you know how those rumors are.

True, The selfed plant will have much higher herm rate and those seeds should be discarded...

Dude, you can't honestly say that you've never seen it rain while the sun was out or at least come out straight after after a good rain. I thinks it's just high intensity artificial light that can cause it cus it's so close to the plants.
 
myths:
flushing is necessary and if you don't, your plants will taste like chemicals. false, the taste comes with the dry/cure process.

light leaks will cause hermies. also false(for the most part) light leaks from a distant 100w bulb is no where near powerful enough to cause your plant to think it's daylight. remember light gets exponentially weaker as you measure out distance from the bulb.

are you crazy? flushing is completely necessary, you can hella taste un-flushed weed, especially if they used a chemical fert. this fact is in every single grow dvd and book I've ever read, are you saying you know something that jorge cervantes doesnt? pur-lease

i can tell the difference in flushed and not flushed, ive done a side by side comparison so i dont thin kit is a myth i like to flush.

also light leaks can cause hermies sometimes.

this thread is getting alot of info that is true.

the plants absorb what they need and convert it into energy. what other fruiting plants in nature are flushed?

if an organic grower didn't flush, would their crop taste like bat guano? if I plant jolly ranchers in my soil, will it give my harvest a fruitier taste?

as for light leaks: if it's a POWERFUL light leak, then yes maybe it can cause a hermie, if the light is powerful enough for the plant to snap out of its dark cycle. I have left my grow tent open many times with my room light on, and I have yet to see a hermie over 4 harvests.

why cant you show some scientific evidence to the contrary? besides its not all about taste its about the burn, if theres still nutrients in the bud it doesn't burn as well, or it will snap and crackle, and if you don't flush your bud may harbor more carcinogens. you cant argue against decades of compiled texts and videos on how to grow marijuana, its in the grow bible for christs sake, high times's ready set grow series,

Well Howdy, Howdy......outdoor flushing in the "ground" is called "rain". This will occur naturally in most places where fruiting plants occur. The purposes of "rain" are many fold. Most importantly, It's for "hydration" for the plant. Also, as "rain" water descends through the soil strata, it rinses aways any potential toxic "salt" buildups, (flushing).
"Rain" also relieves the sky of clouds and we get some sunshine.
Ain't "nature" wonderful?

BB said it for me in the below response and as for scientific proof for flushing well like i said ive done side by side comparison and thats all the proof i need. maybe you should do the same and make the decision for your self. some science says pot is bad for you to.

don't nutrients stay in soil even after it rains? there's practically an entire ecosystem in natural soils.
I've done taste tests as well and I taste no difference.
but if there really is some scientific evidence, I would gladly change sides and flush my plants. I just don't want to get caught in believing internet myths, hence the point of this thread.

This is actually kinda true. From an article i read if you put seeds in a bag with a banana peel and let it ferment it will make the seed more likely to be famel than a male.
Im not 100% sure why it does it but it was a pretty good article.
