Is that from Hazeman or is it the clone version. I have some strawberry diesel from Hazeman that are getting old, about 6 years in the freezer. I'd like to try them out if I can find space.
This was supposedly a tagged/verified KK breeders cut. The smell is on point, hard to judge the plant because he put it into 12/12 the same time he transplanted from solo cup, so it stayed small. Nice chunky buds though. I'm looking forward to giving her the old smoke test to really judge her. The plant is exactly as I remembered it being in veg, weird growing- floppy, viney, very hard to keep happy. I've had to "save" it multiple times this year by taking cuts after his mom went downhill. I have a pack of Hazemans SC that I'd love to grow out sometime too, I love that one grow journal of it on RIU. I want to make more crosses with it asap just in case it dies off on us lol.

I see you recommend Hazeman frequency so I'm thinking about giving him another shot. The first pack of his I ran was Blue Bubba and both of them hermied really bad. It was during my first year of growing however and I was using pretty much every bottle that Advanced Nutrients sold at full strength as I didn't know any better. Over fertilizing and light leaks were most likely the cause.
I see he has a ton of Kush strains and they're my favorite so I think I'll order some Tuna crosses as I've never smoked or grown it before. Damn Christmas money is burning a hole in my pocket... gotta get more seeds lol. Hope you enjoy the smoke test, I'm so jealous.

I keep a list of Hazeman strains I'd like to pick up eventually and the Tuna Kush F2s are on there! The Molokai Kush caught my eye too.

I'll be growing out Chocolate Thai (Drawoh's from Hazeman) and Cherry Bomb next cycle, will start the seeds as soon as I get some fresh h202. Some of these seeds are up to 5 years old, so I want to treat them right-I'll probably scuff them a bit inside a tube of sandpaper, then into a diluted h202 solution.

Actually, I want to grow these two strains together because of their similarities. I was able to try Cherry Bomb from Mr G in the 00s when he was active on ICmag and there were a lot of seeds out there-he used to sell them on Seedbay. The stuff I got tasted like sweet cherry tobacco and really reminded me of my Grandpa's house. The same tobacco flavor that I love in the Dutch Flowers Chocolate Thai. Here is a post I found from Mr. Greengenes (the original, not the youtuber), who, sadly, passed away not too long ago:

"My guess on the origin of the Maui Wowee that CB came from is that it was originally a pure sativa by way of Thailand and possibly crossed with an indica while in Hawaii. In the first generation, there were only two females, but some five or more males. All of CB is down from one of those females. I regret that I gave the all of the seeds of her sister to a friend who lost the line. That was back when I didn't know better. The sister was smaller, lower yielding, but with honey sweet oily resin that was quite 'Thai-ish'. Now I wish I'd kept her in the mix because, though she might have been a tad less potent, she had a sweeter more fruity smell and taste. The main CB female was also quite 'Thai-ish' and had a strong cherry lifesaver taste with a metallic finish and oily resin (the kind that creeps up the doobie and turns the paper brown). The kind of Thai weed I'm referring to is not the kind we used to get on sticks, but the very gourmet 'chocolate thai' of the early-mid seventies. Cherry Bomb still reminds me, and others who've smoked it, of that chocolate thai. Other smells and tastes sometimes associated with CB are coffee and tobacco. Due to my some times too ruthless selections, CB has got a bit more potent over the years, which may possibly mask some of the more subtle flavors and smells. I've noticed that there's a relationship between the red stems and petiols and the fruity metallic tastes, and also that those tastes are easier to detect in less potent plants."

I'm stoked to finally get to grow it out for myself, and I will definitely be doing some Choc Thai x Cherry Bomb crosses this cycle. I'm going to post a really obnoxious amount of pictures of the pink stigmas. I hope other preservationists take up this worthy strain besides just Swami so the genetics don't get lost. Equally important is the # of males/females used for each open pollination, which is how I hope this strain is being preserved, though they could be just doing 1:1 crosses to make seeds-this info should be standard information provided on each seed listing. I had heard that Cryptic Labs did a preservation run of Cherry Bomb a while back but never saw the seeds for sale.

Final thought: those red stem petiols...the BRIGHT red ones, not the ones that turn sort of purple from lack of Mg-those ALWAYS seem to produce special bud. I've noticed that in strains other than Cherry Bomb, but never really thought about it much.

My new favorite seed bank in the UK, Proseeds, just scored some very interesting genetics if you like Mulange Gold! https://proseeds.co.uk/index.php/product/african-dream/

These seeds are from Tangwena, who many of you may know from his excellent Malwai style Cob threads. https://www.icmag.com/threads/malawi-style-cob-curing.309936/

I placed an order for one of each pheno and will grow these out later next year, after my haze project. I will also try cob curing with these, something I did once before....poorly. This time I'll do it right, maybe pick up a sous vide machine. I find cob curing to be fascinating, since fermentation was one of the primary food storage methods all over the world in pre-industrial times, it makes sense to ferment your buds to prevent mold rather than try to dry them in 95% RH. Also, I like kimchi!
I just finished sweating some ace Malawi cobs and am heading out to buy a food vac sealer this morning.
Been following tangwena’s thread for a while and thought I’d give it a go.

Really happy you posted a link to his seeds as I feel his thread is priceless, and buy grabbing some of his seeds I feel like I’m giving back somewhat.
are you planning on popping these anytime soon as I love to follow along?
Cheers

I love Tangwena's threads too! I won't be popping them this next cycle than I'm starting very soon, but I will definitely pop a few alongside some Original Haze for the cycle after. Be sure to let us know how your cobs turn out, that's very exciting!

Sounds like a nice run coming up that’s for sure!
I’ll certainly let you know how the cobs go.

I found a small bit of botrytis growing on my favorite C99, which was right next to the Sweet Tooth bud that had the botrytis, so I made sure to clip that section off and ended up harvesting it, since I was planning to anyway. I checked the rest of the buds and they're fine, and everything else in the tent looks fine so hopefully that will be the end of it.

Also, I've been doing lots of reading up on the Chocolate Thai and Tom Hill Haze for this next cycle, and I found the best post on a recent Hazeman Chocolate Thai grow, so I thought I'd repost it here for anyone interested in the Drawoh/Dutch Flowers Chocolate Thai. This post has me so excited to run these genetics! Here is where you can find the original post along with some good pics https://www.icmag.com/threads/chocolate-thai.152243/page-6#post-18137927

This is from Icemud at ICmag:

I ran Hazemans Chocolate Thai F4's which was a small batch seed run he did about 2 years ago, which I believe are Drawoh Chocolate Thai 2.5 x Drawoh Chocolate Thai 2.5 done by hazeman.

Let me say, first of all, Very nice work DrawOh! I'm blessed to have gotten a chance to try and now have these legendary genetics.

Let me say finding male plants in this batch was extremely hard, but after popping around 15-20 seeds I finally got 2 males.. Woohoo! lol I was doing a open pollen project and selected a few nice phenotypes over 3 different seed popping runs and here is what I noticed.

There definitely is still some influence from the Big Sur Holyweed down the line, as I noticed 2 distinct leaf types, a more sativa dom/landrace type thin blade, and a more "hybrid" looking type leaf which was much fatter leaflets. The plants also had 2 different structures which were a more "hybrid" type, stacked look with average node length, lots of budsites and nice dense stalks. The other structure was very tall, lanky sativa/landrace type structure with long internodes. The buds also had 2 different structures, again one took a more "hybrid" type look with nice thick frosty dense but long nugs, and the other bud structure was sativa/landrace type looking with very large colas made up of frosty, whispy bud spears, but was much more airy, with long bud spindles making up the large colas.

Terpenes between the females were very very similar more than different. Out of all of the strains I have grown over the years (probably close to 75-100+) I've never smelled anything like chocolate thai... There was virtually ZERO "weed smell" to them and instead the buds and plants smelled of (cigar tobacco, cardboard, autumn baked goods spices like cloves and cinnamon, and slight hints of chocolate)

The high though was the most distinct feeling from the Chocolate Thai, simply amazing. I guess the best way to describe the high was completely pure, clean, uplifting, and energetic, almost like those days you wake up and the suns out, the tempature is perfect and it just "feels like the best day/feeling ever"... Well thats pretty much how the Chocolate Thai made me feel. The high seemed to come on in waves, were at first the headchange was subtle, but with each wave or plateau of highness, it got more intense, my smile got bigger, and it almost felt like you were gently being pulled from your head upwards and I felt extremely good and floaty. There was a slight "trippy" type high to it as well, where you kind of think you would see something quickly out of the corner of your eye and then laugh to yourself knowing it was just your mind... Overall I've never experienced any high so pure, clean and uplifting with no panic/anxiety type rush with it. Absolutely amazing! I can't say I was stoned, It would be better said I was uplifted.

I didn't do the best job on growing these as screwed up late flowering slightly roasting the plants with too high of a feeding, but they still turned out amazing. There also were 2 distinct flowering finish times in the phenos. A couple of the more "hybrid" structure ones finished around day 70 (from the flip) and the other sativa/landrace looking ones I pulled around day 104 but they probably could have gone even longer.

Quick update: I've taken down the earliest Cindy, and I'll probably take down the purple Palmera today. I started just feeding them once per day, so they are getting VERY dry in between (though not anywhere near wilting of course). I'm hoping to simulate drought conditions to boost cannabinoid content, but I also just wanted to see what would happen.

I also changed things up with my new batch of seeds. My last grow was the first in years that I didn't get 100% germination-I cut a few corners, did not use h202, and used generic root plugs that were not great. So this time, I shook all my seeds inside a roll of fine sandpaper for 1 minute. If you haven't done this before, look at the seeds under a good scope before and after, so you can really understand the reason for doing this. You can see the shiny outer layer get worn off and turn "dull" looking.

This time, I split my seeds in half. One half, I put directly in a shot glass of pure 3% h202 for 10 minutes before transferring them to my usual mix of 30 ml 3% h202 to 500 ml water. The other half went straight into the h202/water mix for 12 hours. Both groups had seeds from 3 different sources, and ranged in age from very fresh to 6 years old. After a 12 hour soak, I placed all seeds directly into Root Riot cubes that had been soaked in Tribus, Mr Fulvic, Kelp extract, and aspirin (325 mg tablet/gallon), and I kept them in indirect t5 lighting at a stable 80 Deg. Less than 24 hours later, all of the seeds from the first group (the 3% h2o2 for 10 min group) had already emerged from the cubes. The other group had mostly emerged by 48 hours (all but 1), and I had 100% germination before 3 days had gone by.

The combination of sandpaper scarification and soaking in the higher strength h202 solution really impressed me, not just with germination, but with the speed and power of the seedling growth. Vigor from h202 seed soaking is well documented in studies, but I had always been hesitant to try a stronger solution, now I'm glad I did. Also, good to know the Hazeman Chocolate Thai and the Tom Hill Haze (Madmac repro at Proseeds) are both at 100% germ rate-that makes me happy for all the people who bought these seeds!

Very cool you said fine sandpaper can you tell me what grit 120 or are we talking about 400 to 600 ? Did you make a tumbler or are you doing each one by one?
