Samsung F Strip Build

My drivers and the one available strip from my order should be here by Thursday, but the remaining 7 strips that were back-ordered is showing an estimated ship date of May 12th. :wall:

At least I will have one strip to use for all my measurements to get the frames built, pre-wired, and drilled/tapped so it's all ready when they arrive.

If those are Digikey dates, I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

They are a good company (I scored 5x 320W drivers today due to their mistake), but their restock dates tend to be a little optimistic.

Yeah, it's from DigiKey. I'm not getting my hopes up, especially with all the issues being caused by the pandemic. I was hoping to have them built before my next group of plants enter the flower cycle, but it really isn't a big deal if I have to wait for one more grow cycle, or swap them out mid cycle to use them. I've been growing under cheap Chinese COB LEDs from Amazon for 2 years...whats another few months, right?

So if I was going to do a build with 10 of the 3500k 4ft Samsung strips, what drivers would you guys suggest? I am thinking HLG-480H-48A, going on what iPerculate suggested previously. This would be my first build.
I would recommend diy strips any day if you have the capability.

The less power that you run each strip, the more efficient and cooler they run. It's always better to run more strips at lower power if possible, with additional benefit of more light spread.

That being said I think 10 strips on a meanwell 480 would be better. Also as I mentioned earlier the XLG lineup from meanwell is priced cheaper, so you could use 2 of XLG-240-H-AB running 5 strips each. There is also the LRS-200-48, or the mack daddy HLG-480h-48A

Current - Test2.24A
Temperature - Test65°C
Voltage - Forward (Vf) (Typ)46V
Lumens/Watt @ Current - Test171 lm/W
Current - Max3.6A

Hlg-480h-48, has 10a, which would run each strips on 1a, for 48w each, parallel wiring.
A series for built on pot, B for external.

Theres the xlg line up that was mentioned here as well, don't have experience with those so can't recommend.

Ok, so trying to run 2 of the 480's with 5 strips per driver would be overkill? I should just stick with 2 of the aforementioned XLG-240H-AB?

Don't think that 5 on a 480 driver is a overkill. The max tested current on those strips is 3.6a, with 5 strips, each will run on 2a, well below their max tested current.
5 strips on 480a is what im waiting on parts for. Actually was only able to nab the 2’ lengths from digi , so got 10. Heatsinksusa says Michigan SAH order will keep my order from shipping until earliest 14th

Well, I think I really screwed up by waiting to place an order with Arrow. I was going to grab up 20 or so of the 2 ft Samsung strips at less than 5 each, but after a couple comments I saw on here, decided to think about the more expensive 4 ft single and double row strips that are out of stock. Went back this morning to go ahead and get the 2 footers and bam, they're now priced at almost 30 apiece. So now I'm considering looking into the Bridgelux options. Anyone have any suggestions? Would really like to hit about 40w per ft in my 2.5 x 5 space without killing the wallet, which i could've done if I hadn't had second thoughts on the 2 footers.

Are you referring to the 2 foot, 96 diode strips that are made with LM301A LED's?

The price of those strips have been fluctuating a lot recently, especially at Arrow and Verical, an Arrow subsidiary.

BTW I just checked the price of those strips, and they are $5.97 each at Arrow.

I was talking about the SL-B8V7N90L1WW. They were 4.92 yesterday and now they're showing at 29.42 when I pull them up.
