It litterally took over a few months to get a san pedro cutting(5 inch) to start to grow a new pup.
Is there a better way of cutting the top to get more pups?
Yeah its been getting light for months but the roots were prob a little underdeveloped.. that's prob why I took so long for the pup to develop, I heard there's a technique to get multiple pups instead of just one.
I have my 4 cuttings cut at a 45° angle, all have three pups except one that has two. And all the pups have grown from the highest three areoles, now that I think of it. Possibly the angle helped facilitate multiple pups? Not sure. Pups can pop up from nearly anywhere at anytime.
How often are you watering? Once a nice root system is established, they love to be watered frequently. Feeding them a high P fert is very beneficial too.

Yeah man, I really have no idea if that will help. I'm sure it's a culmination of things that promote puppage. All we can do is give them the best homes we can, right?

I think doesn't matter the way you cut the angle on the cutting to get more pups, I think it just depends on the overall conditions and health of the cacti and its roots..upon inspection of the san p. today I found that it was showing another pup forming and I did a 90degree cut but 45degree have the advantage of letting the any water run off the cut and prevent rot.
