Seed problem

So I was trying to get 10 more seeds to pop recently, tried them in paper towel method, and not a single seed had a tap root, they kinda broke the shell but not a single tap root, kept them in a nice warm place about 78 degrees for a week... so I took them all an threw them in root riot, and Tuesday makes a week, sooo are they viable or did I ruin them or maybe I got 10 duds (chances of that?)?

Maybe try planting in soil or coco next time and skip the unnecessary paper towel method.

I soak my seeds for 24 hours in water then plant to soil. That works best for me so far

I use Rapid Rooters with nearly 100% rate. Soak in purified water - squeeze out excess - place seed in hole - cover hole with piece of the rooter - place in a drawer - in 4 days or so they will sprout. Foolproof.

I also soak my seeds for at least 24 hours until tap root is a few millimeters. Then transplant to whatever you like. A few days later you'll have seedlings.

Exactly how I do them. I simply use the those burpee 36 cell or 72 cell 10 day self watering trays.

You sure your temps weren't too high or low. On top of a T5 ballast is a good spot. The paper towel method is a good technique. Lately I been throwing in soil and having to dig them up an pull of helmet. The person you got your seeds from had to of been amateur seed preserver. I remember when I used to keep seeds in coin envelopes for a year. An nothing popped. I still see people keep seeds like that knowing there going to not last long.
