How long does it usually take for the sacs to open up? can they pollinate the plants before they open?

yes, they drop pollen before you see them open. they take a week or 2 to swell and open.

hello sir great thread just one question if you can help!! when is the earliest time at which an autoflowering male has its pollen ready?? im asking this because i planted 1 seed of regular AF great white shark because im waiting on the femenized which just arrived today by the way the AF GWS is 5 days old and already on its second leaves. if it is a male i want to keep the pollen for future breeding but i also need weed in general to smoke so i want to plant the feminized seeds too. but i dont want to pollinate the feminized seeds i will plant this batch as i need bud to smoke soooooooo f bad!!! im in europe and all bud is laced with silicone for weight and i have been smoking swag and hash for too long so i wouldnt smoke the laced shit and need some real buds quickly!!!! thanks for the help +rep for the thread!!!

i'm not too familiar with lowryder. the pollen is ready when the pollen sacs are ready to burst. they will swell and turn yellow.

feminized seeds would not work for me. i need pollen to breed with. :hump:

you need female pollen to make feminized seeds. there are tricks to getting it but i've never messed with it.

On an interesting side note, I just found a great way to harvest pollen. What you should do is go to your local hobby store and get a piece of posterboard with a metallic mirror finish. If you shake the plant and you use the mirror board to catch the pollen, it is really easy to scrape it all into a pile with a library card (the thinner the card the better) and then right into your jar. I did this instead of actually taking any flowers off the plant. I managed to get about 1/4 of a teaspoon a day using this method with little wasted.

fdd2blk basically the reason i wanted to know about making fem seeds is because I mainly grow lowryders..(which u know can not be cloned) and of course i dont always wanna buy seeds..(to expensive!) although i will breed my own.. i would like to have fem seeds i dont have to buy... LIKE THE ONES THEY SELL.....would stressing the female or putting some gibberllic acid on some bud sites do the trick??

im currently making some seeds with a female pre98 bubba kush past ripeness that is producing pollen. im crossing it with larry og kush should have herm free fem seeds i will call it og bubba. it is always good to have seeds around if your clones of special genetics are lost or no longer available seeds also are easy to store for years. seeds are like strain insurance.

if you dont want to wait for a plant to produce pollen when past ripeness using a silver solution is best it works better than g.a. but is not toxic within reason. the past ripeness method is the safest as it should produce no herm traits as long as the female parent of the pollen is a stable strain.

FDD - i just harvested seeds i made from a northern lights mother and a NYC Diesel male. what is involved in back crossing to be able to call it a stable strain? is this something i can even do? i dont want to call it something it isnt. thanks in advance.
