FDD - i just harvested seeds i made from a northern lights mother and a NYC Diesel male. what is involved in back crossing to be able to call it a stable strain? is this something i can even do? i dont want to call it something it isnt. thanks in advance.
you have to have the original mother to back-cross it to. or start a new one, then seed it, then grow those seeds out and use pollen from those males to seed the original.

fdd2blk basically the reason i wanted to know about making fem seeds is because I mainly grow lowryders..(which u know can not be cloned) and of course i dont always wanna buy seeds..(to expensive!) although i will breed my own.. i would like to have fem seeds i dont have to buy... LIKE THE ONES THEY SELL.....would stressing the female or putting some gibberllic acid on some bud sites do the trick??

So yes, gibberllic as will the colloidal silver. Also, you have a 50/50 shot of getting a female to grow male flowers with a solution of ground up aspirin (2 tablets per gallon) sprayed on the leaves. (Cheapest way to go)

The BEST way (meaning the lowest chance of getting hermies), which was popularized by SOMA btw, is to grow the female plants past their maturity without harvesting. This will produce "banana shaped" male flowers which are capable of pollenating other females. Save the pollen from these flowers and use it on your next go-round on some fresh females and you should have femenized seeds.

One thing to remember is not to self-pollenate your plants. This, or so I have heard, often produces hermaphrodite plants from the seeds. Like I said, use the pollen from masculinized female plants to pollinate future females if you want FEM seeds. Its a long process, but worth it if thats what you want.

I personally grow lowryder, and I just kill off the males before they are a problem, less hassle. Femenized seeds are highly overrated if you are the one who has to make them.

okay, i still have the NL in clone form so its basicaly the same plant. and i still have the original pollen. i need to grow one of the seeds i already have and use pollen from that(male of course) to pollenate the original NL? do i have to do this more than once?

hey, thanks for breaking it down for me, as well as all the diff methods to try...def. +rep for all this useful info, thanks!:bigjoint::-P...oh, one more ques. when u say; "grow the female plants past their maturity without harvesting" do u mean just let them grow till they die? (no bud to smoke?) after collecting pollen?:wall:

when i let a female go past ripness for pollen i harvest 75% of the buds at the normal time i then let the remaining popcorn buds go a few more weeks to produce the pollen. when im done collecting i harvest whats left if it looks like the trichromes are degraded mostly to cbd i use it in the next hash run mixed with other trim. i dont lose much in this way it is well worth it in the long run.

someone really needs to start a "feminized seeds" thread.

i don't use feminized seeds.

i don't make feminized seeds.

i don't like feminized seeds.

this was, key word "was", a thread on basic seed production. can we get back on track now? thank you. :)

Yeah, but enough has been said about regular old seed growing. I think that feminization is a BIG part of the science of growing proper seeds. Plus, this is the best damn tutorial on this site. Kudos to you!!! But there is nothing wrong with a thread as great as this answering a whole myriad of questions. Lots of us grow femenized seeds, so even if you dont, we will and can answer the questions.

how many "regular old seeds" have you made?

and even after i snap you still want to push it?

Just saying, a forum is a great place to express freedom of speech. If people have questions, why not answer them? Afterall, this is a thread about seed production. Last time I checked, feminized seeds were... still seeds that get produced :D

As of right now, my plants have just topped 50 seeds each, and they are not done yet. All because of your thread. Thank you for the awesome advice. Im glad you were able to answer all of my questions. You are like a hero and a mentor to me, I hope you know:peace:

I agree! I think I was the one who really got on the fem seed thing...didn't mean it to get to ya FDD, but Majikoopa is right!...this is a seed thread..u didin't really specify, "no fem seed post allowed".........anway, thanks for all the dead-on info, as I said to u before in one of my earlier posts, 4-5pgs back..you taught me a lot!
