Shit, it has worked for years in Tennessee. I'm pretty sure McConnell was the result of incest, although I can't remember where I heard it. Barber shop? Or, was it here.?
that very well could be.

look at UK..their monarchy?

diana was cousin to charles, even..just recent they've been branching out for new genetics..and not a moment too soon:wink:

I don't think incest should be legal, since children can result from such relationships; very "Deliverance-looking" children. And that's not fair to the children, nor to the rest of us who have to look at them.

it's not in most states.
remember the old days? blood test? before getting maarried? that was to make sure you weren't related.
Wow, I didn't realize they could tell relations via blood test back when I got married. I do remember the blood test.

Heinlein tackles this subject in many of his books, yes they're fiction, but much of it is based in real science. In his version of the future, genetics are used to determine if a couple are acceptable candidates for proliferation. While complete strangers might be horribly incompatible to safely have children, mother and son or father and daughter might have the proper genetics to improve the species.

However, we still lack the capability to do this accurately. The technology is still too young and we're still just guessing on several levels. I see such a thing as obtainable, but a slippery slope to tread, and scary in the wrong hands, as it is with many promising technologies. They always seem to be double-edged swords.

The blood test was not to test for relatedness. It is only in the age of genome sequencing (i.e. now days) that one can tell relatedness with DNA.

you are as lazy as nlzxls.
This is why I didn't bother googling your absurd claim. I knew that the old-school blood tests had nothing to do with familial identification. Being condescending and wrong is an embarrassment. Try to stop doing that.

From your link:

Premarital blood tests check both partners for venereal disease or rubella (measles). The tests may also disclose the presence of genetic disorders such as sickle-cell anemia or Tay-Sachs disease. You will not be tested for HIV, but in some states, the person who tests you will provide you with information about HIV and AIDS. In most states, blood tests can be waived for people over 50 and for other reasons, including pregnancy or sterility.

You keep doing this, usually while putting someone down. Did you read your own link?

It was not to see if people were related.

Understood but you could easily be labeled sexist here.

The girl is fucking an old dude, that's odd in itself, but then couple it with DAD and she's really got issues.

Keep in mind this is just you and I voicing our opinion of what's normal. Gay people have been fighting that for most of history.
pot calling the kettle black; that's a pretty sexist line.

By proxy, my wife is a medical lab tech (Microbiologist / push-button chemist). She is the one that gets to analyze any samples you might have to submit. She says she hates it when I remind her that she's actually doing chemistry all day/every day. I'm a chemist. We're both incurably curious though and through necessity have had to learn a fair amount about one another's professions.
