I'll bet that design is almost silent.

The only downside I see is you lose some aeration from the waterfall effect. Don't know if that extra O is needed or not.

Should help keep the light out of the res better, maybe dampen the sound a bit too.

Watching this one!

have separate irritation for each res, using aquatic air stone and a separate air pump
also hoping to significantly dampen the decibels on the waterfall affect!!!

i just finished the prototype
the only thing I'm not sure of at this point
is how high is the water level inside the res with the nuts, fresh water and pump ready to go
can someone help with that?

prototype pics coming in a few

If you've ever seen the GH AeroFlo systems you can actually adjust it so that there is a level of nutrients left at the bottom of the channel that way the roots always have nutrients, esp. good if the power goes out - theoretically you could fill your reservoir to just under or just over the bottom of the fence posts, either way should work.

Just my 2 cents' worth

Seems like there could be a balance with the reservoir. The more fluid you have in the reservoir, the more nutrients you'll have to use to get the correct ppm. If you fill it up all the way and need to add nutrients it may overflow.

The less fluid you have, you risk water being evaporated/consumed down below the pump, and risk damaging it.

I guess it won't matter a whole lot since you system can add water to itself correct?

My guess would be to fill it up 2/3'rds the way. Let me know what you end up doing.:joint:

thanks sparat1k, my system will not yet auto refill
water and nuts automation will be on stage two
it'll be few crops before i will run stage two

So then does phase three involve buying GM's old robot arms for assembling cars and use those for harvesting/trimming/making hash? :-P

This is why i came to this site to see someone who obviously knows what there doing, im very excited to learn from you on this grow and will be here for the ride

I have read through everything you have posted and I agree with your line of thought. I myself, am also from an engineering background.

Reguarding your water level, just setup a large trash can (50gal) with pre-mixed nutes and plumbed through a manifold to float valves in each individual tank. I would then incorporate your stage two into the large main reservoir.

That is unless you are planning to exactly control your PPMs per 2 week system, if you are just use RO water in the main reservoir and manually adjust nutes per growth stage. If it were me I would then place nutrient probes in the individual reservoirs and control the PPMs per reservoir by injecting the nutrient at that level and mixing it with the RO water from the main tank.

The suggestion I posted above could just be a temporary fix when testing the system before you add plants.

I have been researching a way to automate my PPMs using a store bought probe and a microcontroller. I'll let you know what happens. Until then I'm subscribed.

Looking good.

Thanks DubB83
the main res is Pre filtered RO water only,
there will be a controller and probe assigned to each res,
each res will be individually tuned 24/7, no matter what

check out auto grow systems for their line of hydroponic dossers

This is what I was getting at in the second part of my post. It ensures you always have a pure regular supply.

I saw those, but I figured for the cost of a probe I could automate each one with my own $20 home built microcontroller.

I'm sure you can pull that off
my system will be a bit more complicated,
the system can handle and mix up to 8 stock nuts tanks, i will have all 8 of them shared
with 8 individual controllers, each controller samples the water on the fly as they go through the system
the controllers work individually with their assigned site res (different from the IntelliDose stock tanks; that holds the stock nuts)
constantly adjusting to deliver exact measure of nuts consistently and collecting statistical data
generated into graphs and diagrams to analyze and and fine tuning
controllers can be monitored and completely controlled remotely

Well I must say you are my kind of guy(no homo). I have been looking into the intellidose system myself but only for the ph adj. My op is loosely based off of Al B. Fuct's, but uses lowryderxAk47 wich is un-clonable(is that even a word?) Therefore a single 4x4 tray in it's own secret jardin Darkoom is kept with 4 girls and two boys to replentish the ranks every run.Anyway, I am not here to talk about me but rather to salute your program-best of luck and please keep us informed, especially on the doser!

Thanks for stopping by guys ;)
no worries ill keep everyone up to date
should have my version of Stink's NFT finished in a few:weed:
