I have the back on piano hinge with two screws, but I can fit my head in there and do what I need to do. Ideally you want as much access as possible but I am also scrogging, and when I look into the dresser, its just enough room to look around and fit my hands in, kind of like those bubble hand things for babies, sandblasting, and radioactive material handling. I feel a little restrained but not so much so that I don't want to check in on my baby!

Ingenius setup Bong, excellent work. You've given me so many ideas to mull over. A couple of questions...
Do you have any direct venting of the lighting cavity or is just air turbulence from fans that drives hot air from the lighting space down towards the main extractor?
Do you have any plans to add reflectors of any kind for the CFLs?

Yeah i had direct venting of the light cavity as you can see in the photo below. I had 2x 70cfm camping fans from walmart being powered by cellphone charges i got from the local thrift store, mounted on the top next to the CFL lights that blew hot air down to the main exhaust fan but the heat from the lights killed the cheap little fans 3 nights into my grow so i just ordered new 4.5" ecoplus axial fans 112cfm to replace the walmart camping fans. They are the same brand as the main intake and exhaust no cheaping out this time i dont want any more problems. The photo of the big fan is the ones im using for intake and exhaust and the smaller one next to it is the size i ordered for the new fans to bring the air out of the light cavity into the main area where the exhaust is but the small one is not the brand that i ordered it will be the brand that makes the larger one being ecoplus. I just posted a shit load of pics of the fans incase you wanted a better look. And on the topic of the reflector i would really like to fix some sort of reflector at the top i just havnt figured out how i want to make it. The design needs to allow for best airflow to get the hot air down in the main chamber but still fit all the lights... input is always welcome

Hey bong nice work on the build, a suggestion I have though is that you may want to take your timer/power strip off of the floor of the dresser and mount it on the back wall in case you have any spills while watering. Also have you considered having multiple passive intake points on the bottom of the cab and only using your fans as exhaust? Just curious on this point here, as I have heard that this works better at cooling. Good luck and happy growing!

In a previous back i had built for the box i had them both and exhaust at the top but then decided to move one back to the bottom because the fans are way more power than i need and it was just over kill. The box runs 5 degrees F over ambient like it is now with the fans on 50% power. Here is a photo of what it looked like prior to light traps when they were both at the top with passive intakes.

If you start to have temp issues, you can always use a small bucket of some sort that will fit inside your cab and fill it with frozen water bottles. I use this method for my res temps on my DWC, i have heard many people using this also...When you are measuring your temp, how long are you testing it for? When you have your plants in the cab, they will restrict some of the airflow, so think about that also! I like the design, again! The post above about the powerstrip and relocating it is a great idea because you dont want to risk shorting everything out when watering..shit happens! Have you looked into getting new timers? You can also use a temp controller for your fans, when the temperature reaches a pre defined level, it will turn them on for ventilate and cooling...

When i am testing my temps i am taking the reading off of a hygrometer that i have in the main area of my grow cabinet i have been moving it around and leaving it in one place for a full day and to see what the different temps are in the different spots of the box and the main area is 80-84 depending on what part of it i have the hygrometer in and the top cavity with the lights in it is at 109 with the glass seperating the spaces and 98 with out the glass there. I have seen the fan speed controllers that change fan level based on the temp of the box but i figured for the price difference i would just manage the fan speed by myself since i am checking on the plants so often anyways. As for the suggestion of moving the timer off the floor of the dresser and relocating it to the back wall i think that is some of the better advice i have received even tho i am a careful person that makes little mess it only takes one spill to ruin everything.

Finished, upgrades are done. Picked up a 4mm excess mylar sheet from the hydro store (You can get mad deals if you just be nice haha). Fans are upgraded, all that needs to be done is to screw on the door. I'll post pics of my build in a few hours as my camera has no batt.

Also yes its good to have no wires or electical components on the floor. I remember the spill bucket overfilled and the back wasn't sealed, I cleaned up the inside then realised there was water coming out the back. And I was frantically pulling wires off the floor behind lol.

I am still at the drawing table...I had to updrade from 4'' to 6'' in my grow room,so I am waiting for the 6'' now and I dont have the 4'' in my hand to help visualise. Big fan for the unit, but it will only go on a few times a day... it will be a quiet grow box for the most part.

lights:
90W QUAD BAND LED GROW LIGHT UFO 90 WATT QUADBAND
BLUE 90W UFO LED GROW LIGHT 90 WATT 5th Generation
FERO 4G 180 LED

it's gonna be very thight,... its gonna look kind of like this if I manage to set it the way I want. note that I already have the plants going in 3galls pot and I do not want to transplant them again so I will try to make it work with those...

I ordered 2 new 4.5" ecoplus axial fans i really like this brand it matches the intake and exhaust fans i already have. These are replacements for the cheap ones i originally had at the top cooling off the lights that died on me.The old ones moved 70 cfm the new ones 112. I used 1 inch spacers and some 3" screws to mount them on the wall near the lights. The airflow is much better temps are better and im much happier now. lets hope nothing else breaks on this first run!
