Really?

The only reaction from the plant that seems reasonable to me is that it tries to heal the wound, which has nothing to do with resin production.

If you want to increase resin production, then you should find out what the resin is used for in the first place, and I can tell you it's NOT for fixing wounds in stalk because some dude drove a chopstick / toothpick / whatever through it....

didn't know i could ruin a plant in the last 2 days of flower. good to know lol

This board seems to contain 2 types of users... people like OMU and Beachwalker.. very helpful .. then the A**sholes. For all that i have learned still worth dealing with the A**holes.

I'm amazed at how many grower myths still get passed around like gospel.

Experimenting with them is like re-inventing the wheel. Round wheels work best. 'Nuff said. :D

Feed plants well. Give adequate light and water and that's all they need. Days of darkness do bugger all either. Crop when they're ready.

Go for yields by various methods like ScroG or supercropping and grow the plants well unlike the neglected girls I have going. Mites don't help either so avoid them. :D

There's a lot of stoner myth and stupid grow advice out there, dude, so if you're going to get all butthurt about somebody telling you as much every time you make some stupid post about using some stupid voo doo grow method that has zero basis in botanical fact OR fiction, then I'd say you might not have the right temperament for this hobby.

Im fine man, i don't get my feelings hurt. If i allowed emotion in I wouldn't be a good trader. I just find it funny you took time out of your busy? day to jump on this thread and tell me how stupid the idea was. Im sure the same thing was said when someone proposed topping, Fimming or supercropping but now they are mainstream.

Just because a myth is old to you doesn't mean its old to me. I am a noob when it comes to growing so i may post some stuff that is stupid to you or for that fact stupid to 99 percent of the people on this board. I really dont care.

In the end there are 2 types of people on this board. Which one are you?

I wouldn't be surprised of the chop stick through the stalk increases yield and potency. I have been blowing huge loads of cum all over my plants for years and it seems to add just the right amount of stress to them.....
Point being anything even slightly saying shit like that is a good thing is complete and total snake oil salesmen type shit.
Like others who have posted here it amazes me people still believe in any of it.

The couple days of darkness works tho so... ya..
Maybe you should be a little more relaxed with what you "know as the facts"

Anything that takes away from resin production is going to negatively impact the final product.

The Jury is still out on the darkness thing. I really don’t think it should cause any positive results, but growers I have known for years and respect swear by it. The couple times I tried it, I didn’t notice much.

not trying to be a dick, but i don't understand the logic. you're removing a plant from it's primary source of energy, and expecting it to grow more trichs. exposure to uv light makes a plant grow more trichs, exposure to nothing, makes a plant do nothing. transpiration and photosynthesis cannot occur in the dark, so pretty much all growth will stop. it seems to me to be a complete and total waste of the two or three days you do it for

i will say i cut in the morning, before the plant has a chance to pump all the nutrient laden sap up out of the roots, into the rest of the plant.
i'm not positive this really works, but i know that transpiration is a big part of a plants circulation, and it doesn't happen at night, and neither does photosynthesis, so if there is a low point in nutrients, carbs, and sugars, it would be right when the lights cut on.

Heres the logic as i understand it...
The trichs are created as a defense to uv. The uv breaks them down. The plant gets used to making a lot of them as defence, the light is removed, the plant still makes more/puts energy into the ones it has, and they are not degraded at all.

The differance is not world changing, however, every time ive done it my bids seem noticibly greasier. Sure, i got no proof other than my experiance an ithers comments on my stuff, but for me thats all that matters.

that's at least a logical argument, and has a decent chance of being true. i'll have to think about that one.

I agree with this too. Ive noticed i prefer the times ive cut before lights on, or after darkness period vs times ive cut after the lights have been on a while to all day. Ive chopped about every random stange of lights on or off an just developed my own preferance, others have diff preferance. Ive even hear of people doing 24 hours light the last 2 days so its not like it matters a TON. i just took a bunch of revegged buds the size of pingpong balls off a plant that had been under 24/7 light for a month an they where greasy an did the trick too.

Why use a chopstick? Just imagine if you used a fertilizer spike. You'd get the benefit of the chopstick and you'd be getting nutrients right into the plant. Then when it's time to harvest just leave your humongous tree in the dark for a couple of days before pulling it and sticking the roots in a pot of boiling water to force all the resin into the buds.

Thats too low tech. All the cool kids use a IV of advanced nutrients now days. 1000cc of big bud into the main vein, YA BABY. ;)

I can taste that weed.... similar to sucking on one of those green sticks you put in the soil with your ferns.
