Hey so i have been growing for about three years...live in Oklahoma where the weather is hot but plants usually thrive well. Once again my plants just wont grow. They start out in a decently sized pot and i waited until they had about 6 or 7 rows of leaves then transferred them into a forest nearby...used the soil from the forest since everything in it is thriving. So i water whenever is necessary (until soil is almost cracking) and about 2 weeks ago i added a light 10-10-10 basic fertilizer to help it out. Well after i transferred them they just stopped growing...the plants are very healthy looking aside from losing their bottom 2 rows of leaves earlier in the process. My third row of leaves is also starting to curl and die and that suggest lack of nutrients which is why i had added the fertilizer but it doesnt seem to be helping..does anyone else know whats up. The plants have literally just stopped growing up and out but one of them looks like its starting the early stage of flowering..? They are only about a foot tall! I need them to grow damnit!! any suggestions?? thanks ahead

Sounds to me like they don't like that soil in the forest. Plants are all different... just because some do well there doesn't mean all will. Also... if it's in a forest... are you sure it's getting enough sunlight?

Here goes: You are using soil from the forest and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that but once you place it in a pot - it becomes far easier to press down with the weight of the water. When using foreign soil that is mainly clay based, you have to add some different compounds to promote faster and effective drainage as well as oygenation. Canna roots thrive with oxygen and when water is drained from anything it is imediately replaced by the next lighter element available - in this case air! I recommend something called vermiculite to be added to your soil composition Here goes a lil info on it but your plants will thankyou...

Vermiculite, when combined with peat or composted pine bark compost,
promotes faster root growth and gives quick anchorage to young roots. The
mixture helps retain air, plant food and moisture, releasing them as the plant
requires them.
