The bigger problem is that when your internal engine of vitality, determination, satisfaction in a job well done is taken from you by a cruel joke of neurochemistry, the deadlier sensation is the absolute crystalline certainty that there's nothing to gain any more. cn

this opens the door for depressed individuals who are going to do a murder suicide and think it will be acceptable due to the assisted suicides if it were legal , look at the chiefs qb who killed himself then his wife leaving a small child with no parents

Personally, I think it is the most cowardly/selfish act on the planet.

I have lost both parents and a couple of other family members to cancer. Not once did any of them wish to take thier own life. They fought and died with honor and dignity( that above all else is all you can take in the last moments.)
Play the cards you were dealt till the the game is over. You did not give yourself life, so you really do not "own" the right to take it. jmo

Killing someone else has to be more selfish.

I disagree, especially with the bolded. It handcuffs us to life without a reason given, and with no real logic behind it. It stinks of doctrine. Jmo. cn

It does. In my faith were were taught that enduring to the end is the only way. I watched my mom endure. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. God is about mercy. It would have been merciful to end her suffering.

trollage? I've never seen cn troll anyone. He has a penchant for ingenious puns but I wouldn't call that trolling. And dumb? How can you think anything he posts is dumb? Sometimes I have to grab a dictionary just to follow along. LOL

When I was younger and the adults would all talk about Dr. Kevorkian and assisted suicide I always thought to myself, "What the hell does the Youth-in-Asia have to do with killing sick people?" It left me rather confused on the issue for years.

As long as there is a genuine consensus with everyone involved I believe it's ok. Complex subject either way.

I personally suffer from depression, always have. Never wanted to live this life I was forced to lived. Tried to hang myself when I was 12 after having a dream of what my future was going to be. Unfortunately someone found me in the closet and was able to resuscitate me. Anything from my drug abuse and alcoholism to pill popping I continued to try and kill my self but in a more self destructive manor. I never knew just how imbalanced I was until my doctor put me on Zoloft to help manage my resent (started a year ago) anxiety attacks.

Affair, Divorce, subsequent financial troubles leading to foreclosure, bills pilling up. all dragging me back down into depression again. I kept going through bouts where I would be overly emotional, crying, suicidal. ... eventually I figured out that I was sitting on a bad batch of Zoloft. The pills where a little lighter in color than my rest. Every time I took out of that bottle I would get the headaches and emotional swings like I was late or had missed a dose. I'm glad I figured out what was going on because I came REALLY close to killing myself there several times.

let me rephrase then as you do make valid points... his silly puns. That better? Either way I was tossing out a compliment in my own weird way.
I'm completely serious. You should see me trying to pm with him. I have a dictionary and a physics for dummies book open and ready at all times. I just had to humble myself and ask him a question about a word he used. He explained in detail. I'm still working out the explanation. LOL
