I'm jealous, I want to try kushberry.

Squash and zucchini did amazingly well for me last year. Lots of water as I'm in sand. Mixed in manure and miracle grow twice a week.

Tomatoes did well up until the heat wave, this year they'll be getting shade cloth and shall make it.

Cucumbers were just starting when heatwave hit. This year shade cloth as well. Oh same problem with cantaloupe.

Animals ate everything else up before it had a chance.

anybody have any tips on varieties that would do well in the heat outside..
Mandala'a Satori does well outside. Potent, but not for the couch-lock crowd though.

Central texas WILL freeze again! Mid march is when it gets safer. You could always plant in small plots and cover thing with a freeze blanket if there is a freeze. If you do that and also put jugs that are sealed and full of hot water under the blakets with the plants you can gets through most freezes down to 25 or so...as long as it get above freezing sometime in 24 hours. Good luck. Welcome to Centex :p

Guess I misread, was thinking of veggies.

Anything with tropical sativa I'd think for heat, though don't know about drought tolerance.

thanks for the suggestions. i guess sativas def make sense with the heat i may try the satori tho. im more of an indica guy but i love to smoke all day so sativas come in handy for sure
and yeah i know the night time temps will still be droppin pretty much all the way thru feb... but i am getting my little grow plot ready and will be putting some outside andd bringing in at night until they can stay out there. guess i shoulda mentioned that. i also have so many clones and seedlings and plants n veg and in flower i may just throw some out there in the cold to make some room and see if they make it. ive covered plants in cold weather but never thought about hot water good idea! appreciate the welcome plantman

Greetings from central texas. Glad to see there are some other Texas growers here.

Where you guys are at sound like a dream to me. I am actually in Austin but I guess my connections just suck. My old guy I'm pretty sure was selling mid grade shit at headstash prices. Paying $120/q sucks when you smoke a lot. I went to Cali and hooked some up from a friend of mine there who grew and even his miracle gro done 1st time grow was better than most of what I got from my guy here. I ended up bringing a substantial amount back and hoping it lasts me until my first harvest is in. I grew several years back for a couple of years but had to give it up - former Overgrow'er lost in the wilderness but glad to have found RIU (especially after a bad experience at grass city). I know what I grow will be way better than what I have now and what I was buying before. I'm sure there are people in austin with much better connections but frankly I don't swim in those circles :) I'm one of those guys you would never expect is a huge pothead. I'm just happy to be back to growing because I love it almost as much as smoking -- and nice to have a few compadre's from these parts. Hopefully this should be my best grow yet as I was producing pretty good stuff when I quit and I expect to be able to dial it in pretty quick. I don't grow to sell just grow for myself and occasionally my best friend enjoys the fruits of my labor :)

I wish Texas had voter initiatives -- I don't think texas is ever going to pass medical, much less decriminalize/legalize growing otherwise. If you look at the places that have good medical laws, they are pretty much all places where the citizens get to vote it in over the heads of the politicians who are too big of pussies to do what they'll tell you in private is right because they're wetting their panties over being soft on drugs. I am thinking hard of moving out of state to a medical state just for the lower likelihood of getting busted.

Golden triangle? Asia or something else?

As for austin hookup, the pot snobs I know have it mailed in from Cali for a personal stash. I've never bought 9ver there so don't know their prices over there.

Heard that locally "hydro" is going for $20 a gram and is the best going around. Gave a guy a bowl of c99 and he was amazed, said it's the best he's had in a long time. So the "hydro" being sold isn't all that great.

You won't find those here. Not sure what they have, they call it hydro and think that alone means it is good or better just for being hydro.

you know bro I was having that discussion with someone last night. I'm still trying to understand where the name corn came from. But, back to the dro issue, that makes no sense because if thats the case you could just pop swag beans isolate the sex and bam! It makes no sense!!

Well I'm in the middle of nowhere. Weed is weed, you smoke what you can get. Some reason people think hydro means fire. I first heard it in rap music. They call it hydro and slap a higher price on it. No way to know how it was grown, not that it really matters unless you're an organic only person, but buyers can't be choosers, least not around here. I'd say that this "hydro" is probably mids at best. The people I know here only know the name blueberry and kush

And also they think kush is better than dro and charge 25/g...that is why I started growing cuz Texas prices are ridiculous and yu NEVER kno what you are really getting they slap names that sounds exotic on them smh
