THC Bomb Mothers in Flower.

It appears RIU is allowing larger photos again. I know it's not Monday but I also know you voyeurs would love some naked flicks of these whores. I also included a plant chart that I keep for every grow. Additionally, there are some pictures off the lens I bought. It cost 13.00 and attaches magnetically to any cell phone camera. All the plant pics were taken with the wide angle and close-ups are taken with the macro lens. Enjoy...

Nice investment for $13.00, now where did you get that idea??? lol

Great shots, great grow. The canopy is nice and even, your Scrog looks killer (nice & chunky).

Great job!!!

Thanks for the idea bro. Theres nothing like the right tools for the job. My heat gun, the lens, my three meters, and my exacto knife cosr less than 100 combined. But they are priceless to me. How did you post the video into the thread? I can't figure it out.

I found the entire Cancer - UCLA Research video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iksA-DD3990 It is narrated by one of the old guys from Law and Order.

-Dude'r

Wow at those pics Dude, esp pic 18. I'm so inspired that I've gone and ordered one for myself. Only hope it arrives before the end of my grow. Also, great to see those log sheets, very cool stuff. No doubt, you are a model grower!!

You all humble the humble Dude. I have tried to post a Word doc. of my chart so others can print it, but it wont allow the upload and maintain it's format. I love the new lens! When the trichomes start to phase it will be cool to post visuals.

The larger room, until now has not gotten much attention. But they are now demanding it. So today: there were a half dozen or so that were over a foot already; these I topped at the node closest to, but not under the 11 inch mark. The rest of the garden is just below the threshold. As they breach the 1 foot barrier they will all be topped, with the exception of a patch of 12 which will be allowed to grow the traditional main cola/Christmas tree style. This is to compare the topped versus untopped yields with enough plants to reduce anomalies in results.

Every plant also got the traditional lower growth cleanup of insignificant branches and minor leaves(below 7 petals). They got feed today as well. Every plant in the garden is a lush dark green and near identical in size and appearance. I have much respect for these genetics thus-far. White L.S.D has nice big leaves with fat petals that have a slight velvet texture. Lower branches take off quickly past week 3 of veg. Easily reached a foot in one month of veg. I recorded an inch of growth on the tallest plant overnight last night.

The THC Bombs under the scrog in the larger room are filling the screen very quickly. It is about 85% saturating the screen and branches must be pushed don't and redirected every couple days.

Every plant continues to be turned 1/4 turn each day.

The THC Bomb mothers under the scrog had the string removed form them so their second buckets could be emptied and cleaned. The runoff water was stagnant for almost a month and the ph was only 6.0 and the ppm was at 1010! But, there was some algae. Not many roots can penetrate through the 1/2 holes I drilled into the bottom of the first buckets. They did not seem to notice the screen missing and support their own weight just fine. My hands stunk and stuck hard to each other after messing with them just a bit.

I couldn't resist so I finally squeezed a bud and it was a rock. I normally have a completely hands off policy to protect the delicate THC producing resin glands.

Tomorrow's update will cover mostly the larger room and only include a few bud shots because they were included a day ago.

-Dude'r

Today's update is focused on the larger room's progress because I just posted bud shots of the mothers a few days ago. As you can see, they have all been trimmed. They are topped at, but now below 11 inches. Essentially, as soon as they reach a foot, they are topped. Once the whole room achieves this, the room will go flower. I cannot find any yellow, brown or otherwise questionable defects in the plants. Some have more accelerated lower branch growth than others, but the difference is marginal.

In included some close-ups of the White LSD that somehow topped itself very early on with no noticeable stress. It now has two fully competitive colas. Behold.

There are also some pictures of the THC Bombs under the scrog as well as pictures of a plant after about 2 days since being topped.

I go by height, not node count. Th amount of nodes is dependent on the individual plant's inter-nodal length. When they reach a foot, I top. I don't FIM. I don't like the results.

-Dude

yeah i have to say im kinda preferring the results of my topped plant better than the fim. the fim seems totally random whereas the topped plant knows exactly wtf its doing.

Exactly. The FIM technique produces growth in a strange pattern that is hard to predict or contain. Imagine if I did it to all my plants. My even canopy would be ruined.

-Dude

ill post a pic soon of my fiimmed plant, its all over the place haha, its not bad at the top but on of the side shoots from the mains tem at the bottom is MUCH bigger than its counterpart, its as if only that side got redistributed hormones after the fim and the other got nothing, weird. the topped plant shot up after it and seemed to have recovered much faster , i love the way it looks too, very strong and 4 clearly defined main colas :) ill post a comparison in my journal soon.

I like topping too. Keeps the girls short and they recover in like 2 days max. I topped one of mine 3 days ago and I already have 4 new inches. Also, many branch tops can be created faster and more predictably by topping multiple times on different tall branches. I start mothers this way. As soon an the can be topped, they are and I keep doing so until the mother is full of branches/viable clones. I would recommend not multiple topping a plant that will flower. At least, not like you would a mother. With multiple plants in a room, the repeated topping will result in widely varying heights. Learned that the hard way.

-Dude'r

ah very interesting, so, heres a Q :) how do you top after topping, do you cut the 2 new main shoots? i only have like 2 nodes below my 2 middle colas and i cant imagine you would chop down on of the new ones. hows it done duder!? :D

Just as you guessed. You top as normal, then wait a week and top the two newly created colas, then wait a week and top the four new colas. Combined with LST techniques, this can also be done to all the lower branches that reach the canopy. The trick to a good, short mother is in tying the main branches to form an even canopy. then when it is even, top all the tall branches, allowing the shorter ones to catch up. This creates so much branching though it is not smart for a small space or a plant you want to flower. It is great when you grow a mother because you end up with dozens of branch sites to clone from without completely raping the mother. On the first page of this thread I have pictures from my current mothers early life. You can see the even canopy shape and how many branch sites they had even at under 2ft. I reaped almost 200 clones from the two THC Bomb moms. As you can see from the early pics, they rebound incredibly fast.

Mothers should be grown to maximize branch sites. Plants you want to flower should be groomed to form the shape you require for your space. You can see how a giant bushy tree may not work in a closet.
