what I find amazing is how much leeway his legal Smeagols are given to interject bs like saying these rulings are “a tragic day for the rule of law” in precise contradiction of reality. Imo they are in contempt, which is sort of a big deal.

They're not trying to keep him from threatening people. They're trying to keep him from talking about the case on the campaign trail. It's protected political speech they're after. Speech. Something that should be above hate-mongering and divisiveness.
