This is the dehu I'm looking at. This will work with the inkbird controller right? Now I just need to source the racks and the controller?

Questions for you DIY guys

1. How much power does the fridge use? I know its 70W + dehum, but is it running all the time, or cycles 1/4 of the time?

2. How long after putting the bud in the fridge is it ready to smoke? I think the cannatrol claims it is smokable within 5 days but I am skeptical.

To be honest I’ve never checked the power pulled for the cooler and dehumidifier. The dehumidifier works just part of the time, probably averaging 50% of the time through an entire dry/ cure cycle. You can control how fast it dries, and I guess you could get it smokable in 5 days, but I run mine to dry over a 2-4 week or so time frame, then cure a few weeks to months. I let it go slower if I don’t have another harvest ready to go in.

I'm holding out on the Cannatrol until some competitors enter the market and there is good natured rivalries to keep these companies on their toes. One thing though is after careful self reflection, inward thinking, and the fact that every run I've had, no matter the strain has the same weird smell after "drying". The question is can you dry something that is already dead? My guess is that I took off so many big yellow and crispy fan leaves that the plant started feeding from its own sugar leaves, killing them and my guess is that the dead little vegetation makes the week smell and taste either not enjoyable or non existent.... Anyway, at least it still gets me a head change- Priorities! Bottom Line: I suck at flower stager and the dead looking leaves I pick off to sweep things under the proverbial rug.... :)

After careful consideration, I'm not buying a special drying machine until I get my mid flower stage in check. Fuck it im gonna keep feeding calmag until 3 weeks from harvest

Major Mg deficiencies also- growing in HP Promix... I'll post pics next watering- gonna cycle them to flower in a week or 2

Well I just ordered a fridge and inkbird. May slap an arduino on it in the future... we will see.

I emailed Curidor which looked like a competitor to Cannatrol but at $400 price... but they don't have a dehumidifer at all... its literally a wine fridge. Period. You have to condition the room. Their website leaves that out

I can't quiet justify a $1800 cure fridge that would hold 1/6 of my harvest at a time... I mean... shit the most expensive grow equipment I have is my $800 lights... this would be the most expensive unit by far in my room. haha

I usually have an easy time drying. This unit would just make a bit easier when the weather goes wacky here

What size fridge did you get? I'm not sure any thermoelectric cooler is any bigger than a cannatrol. I ran out of space un my 20.bottle fridge and I have an earth box in a 1.5' x 3' footprint so not a large canopy.

Working on mine today. I was thinking the dehu would work better up high but then I wouldn't be able to strip it down and let it drain thru the floor. I think I'm gonna do it just like hook daddy did. I tried to figure out a way to not drill a hole thru the fridge but I don't see one

keep in mind when you drill a hole that the inside of the fridge is concaved so the back wall thickness is not the same as the front. but putting the hole around the ground marker is pretty safe.
