While i totally agree with you as to the efficacy of the 45, if in a home defense situation, i'd prefer a tactical shotgun (although it doesn't fit under a pillow very well)

Years ago I tried sleeping with a gun under my pillow
Never worked
All night I stayed awake thinking about
What if I have a dream and reach for the gun
So I put it in my nightstand
Then i thought
Well what if I have a dream and reach into the nightstand
Then I thought about it
and figured
You know what. If someone makes it to the bedroom it's allready too late
So now what I got is on the bedroom door
You can have anything you want on the first floor
It's all yours
Start coming up the stairs though and it's game over

For me, a gun under the pillow is the cause for waking several times during the night. Every time i touch it, i wake up. Sometimes it is my hand on it under the pillow, sometimes a shoulder, and occasionally a cheek. But to the best of my knowledge, if it's touched, i wake. i also have my Remington 12 ga by the bed. Either one works for me. My wife can attest to the fact that if a sudden noise, movement, or otherwise uncomfortable situation occurs, my handgun comes out. She didn't get shot, but she has seen the business end. She lets me know when she wakes up

I'm guessing you have to be a non felon to protect others in society. They cannot carry ANY deadly weapons, that's the law in America as well if I'm not mistaken.

I have a Spas 12 in my bedroom closet, for years I thought it was the ultimate in home protection.
But I can reach into my nightstand drawer and grab my Sig and an extra clip so much faster it's not even close.
Everyone is different I guess, what ever works for you is best, but I'd hate to be on the receiving end of either of them. LOL

What i like about a tactical shotgun (or preferably a "modified barrel" shotgun) is the fact that while i'm VERY confident in my aim, my 12 year old son or my wife can pick it up, point it, pull the trigger, and likely hit their target. Also, i disagree with whoever discounted the psychological impact of a shotgun racking a round. There was a reason we were trained to key the PA mic while racking a round on a felony stop.
i have literally seen HUGE grown men drop to their knees upon hearing that sound.

Sorry, you may be right in theory but our law is defined by Supreme Court Decisions. You just cannot let a mentally insane killer keep getting guns even though their right is infringed...

Yes, that was in the decision but read on & understand what the Supreme Court said in their opinion(s) on the ruling towards the right to possibly rule in the future on other questions towards the ammendment. Supreme Court Judge Scolia (sp) recently repeated in an on camera interview . . .
