Transplant into Wet Soil?

Hi All -- First grow here (two Northern Lights seedlings). There are some roots starting to show through the bottom of my 4 inch square pots, and I'll be transplanting within the next couple of days. I'm planning to mix up some FFOF and perlite, and transplant into 7 gallon pots. So my main question: How wet should I make the new soil before I transplant into it? That's pretty much it, but if you'd care to also advise on a watering strategy for after I've transplanted to avoid overwatering (small plant in a large pot), I'd be happy to hear. Thanks in advance.

I dry out my cups, plant dried out plug into soil, top with more and ferts, water 1/4 container/dirt volume/or till it comes out the bottom.
when I used FF(hot) I cut it with pro mix 50/50, and then fed in a few weeks after that with org ferts.. I skp the ff now, no need for me anymore I found

I kick the bucket, know the feel of a dry one, compared to the first watering. kick it again in a day or two or more, when its dry again water again same way, or water if plant says so(droop, light bucket)

So what you're saying is that the soil you transplant into is dry, just the way it comes out of the bag, before you put your plants into it? (And then you water once the plants are in.) Right? I wonder if that's how most people do it...

I would let the soil it's in dry out , transplant into soil how it comes out the bag and then wait for that to dry out too before watering :) once transplanted you want the roots to grow into the new soil , a search for water should help this ...

Could be wrong

I charge/water the Coco with ca:mg and kelp the day before then drop the transplant in. As far as soil goes would lite water then drop.

This is how I do it

Soil the plant is in should be somewhat dry before transplanting, transplant into soil right from bag, lightly water.

I do this before lights go out.

As you can see people do it lots of ways lol. Regardless of how just be very gentle and it should be fine.
