TRANSPLANT TIME (tips?)

These plants are on day #14, going to transplant them from a Solo Cup of Ocean Forest to a 5gal fabric filled with Ocean Forest.

My first time transplanting, any tips/suggestions?

Like i literally know nothing, do I pre-moisten all the soil in the 5gal? Or leave it dry & just create a solo-cup sized hole in the center.

Should I water the Solo Cup soil before transplant?

Offer a prayer to Loki or Zeus?

Do i bury half the stem, or all of it?

Green part goes up.

This is what i do, put some media in your new pot, place the solo with the plant or a new one if its more comfortable and backfill it. Next slide it out ( nows the time for mycho if used) of the media and replace with your plant slightly firm in and water thoroughly

ok so media goes in dry, place plant... then water the whole thing thoroughly, or just the area directly around transplant.

should i water the solo cup first to keep the soil together better during transplant?

Start with transplant area and don't drown em

Given the size of the new container vs existing I recommend watering the whole new pot throughly. Your next watering may take up to 7 days. Feel for weight on a good dry back. Observe leaves. The center will dry out first since that’s where the plant is rooted in from the solo cups. The wet ring will remain and those roots will stretch in search for water and find it.

I water the new pot thoroughly, imo if your transplant cant be watered through, its not a transplant

why water the stem

I always pre-moisten my soil mix before filling the new pot up to a level the transplant can fit in just above the level of the pot by an inch as it will all settle down a couple inches when watered. Just moist enough to hold together like a dirty snowball when squeezed like one. Not so you can squeeze water out of it.

Let the solo cups dry right down to keep the rootball together but that also depends on how much root mass is in it to hold it all together. I generally let them get a little rootbound before transplanting then saw off a half inch off the bottom just before dropping in the new pot. forces the roots to branch out and make thousands of fine feeder roots.

Just before dropping the plant in I sprinkle in some DynoMyco and spray it all good and spray the bottom of the rootball. Drop in, fill around the sides then water it all until the pot is soaked. Done.

Just did these pink kush the other day.







Looking great yesterday. I've never noticed any transplant shock. Ever. And all the drain holes had roots poking out in less than 3 days.

Now a want a pumpernickel sanwich

Doesn't have instructions? I would imagine you'd use it like DynoMyco. Sprinkle on the surface of the new soil where the rootball will make contact. I also mix the dyno in the medium before putting it in the pots. Get 75g of the Dyno for $23.

If they are going outdoors from indoors give them a day or two in shade to harden. I straddle the plant between my fingers then work the cup free with the other hand, loose soil isn’t a big deal but be gentle and plant deep.

I'll get the Dynomyco next time, this Great White was $16 for 28g, significantly more expensive.

I agree with @OldMedUser . I also like to premoisen the soil if it's dry. Make a hole, sprinkle Mykos, then water good. I usually try to transplant at least a day after watering the old pot or cup.

I use Mykos by Extreme Gardening, but they both get the job done.

You can bury as much of the stem as you want. It won't hurt the plant.

Ok while i got you here P.W.
Any problems you see here with discoloration. #1 looks like faded spots, #2..I think the white dot might just be dust, i only saw one. #3... The yellow circle/dot on edge of leaf is strange.

#1 looks like maybe water got splashed. #2-3 makes me wonder what the RH is and the air circulation you've got. Along with maybe checking for critters. What medium are you using again?

Ocean Forest soil, RH is 41% right now usually its 48-50%... ive got a 6" fan blowing above them 24-7 & a 6" inline ac infinity set to speed 7 on & 3 off.
