Venilation and cooling questions

I am using a 600w MH bulb with ballast in a corner of my room. Pictures below. I have two white widow plants, 2 weeks old, that I just moved from fluorescent to HID. My question is that I can't afford an expensive ventilation system, so I'm just using a regular fan. Is it ok to put allow the fan's air to hit the plants directly so that they shake, or how should I do this? I know it can get pretty hot with the HID bulb above (the 600 watt bulb is about 2 feet away from the seedlings). I live in a hot, dry climate (10% humidity, highs of 104 degrees right now). What is the best set up given my situation?
As a postscript, I realize my babies have some discoloration.. this is because of a minor pest problem that is resolved. Thank you for your time to help me =)

Continue to use fluorescent lights until late fall/winter when temps are lower. For now, those plants don't need 600 watts.

The problem is I only have 40 watts of fluorescents available to me... Will my plants survive on that? And for how long?

Your stuck in a situation like me. 110 temps outside and my new apartment closet has no AC vent so its so Hot in here. I bought a portable AC and ran a 400W fine, but the portable AC was sucking too much air out of the room causing my plants to really wilt. I've ended up going with CFLS

It's been 2 weeks, and they looked like they needed more light. A little stretching is fine, but Im more worried about the temp. From the pics you can see I just have a reg fan that is blowing at the plants to keep the temp down. It's around 80 degrees F. My question is shoud the fan be blowing directly on the plants or away from them?

Awesome thank you. I realize this will dry them out but also make the stems a little hardier. Since I live in the desert, should I be misting them?

go too home depot for 3 bucks get a temp humidity guage
mist them only when the can dry before lights come on if u r running 24/7 dont mist u might need a humidifier later and better fans

Horrible setup waste of space and electricity, NEVER start a grow without a complete ventilation system(INTAKE/OUTTAKE/AC) and HAVE HAD RUN THE SETUP FOR 48hrs(without plants) AND SEE WHAT YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL TEMPS ARE. {No offense at all} im just being blunt about being completely unproductive and wasting your good, time and money on something that wont turn out. We all have been there, i just hate to see someone go thru the same disappointing experiences I've gone thru.

Unfortunately I am on a budget and can't afford an expensive cooling set up. I've been known in the past to turn a bad situation into a productive one so we'll see. Thanks for the input.

The grow is just in the corner of my living room. I just set it up tonight.. like I said the seedlings are 2 week old white widows. They had a slight pest problem that has since cleared up - otherwise they are healthy. They seemed to need more light than the 40 watt fluorescents so I set up HID with a fan blowing above them. The ventilations is basically the moving current of air from the blocked off corner where they are located to the main room where I have a coolant system (water cooler).

*nods* that's what I'm hoping. Anyway send me private msg. If you would like I can send you updates on the girls and get your input on what I should do =)
Right now I'm using happy frog soil.. I've heard it only supplies nutes for 3 weeks. I have micro bloom grow fertilizers that I plan to use soon.

just a thought?..... would you get beter results by finding a shadey-ish spot in your garden/outside well out the way... if you have good weather you'll probably do just fine....and you can add to your stuff and start again indoors with the right tools for the job?..... as i say just a thought and might help turn your situation around
