That's a oxymoronic situation....You can't get putin out of power till it happens, and it can't happen with putin in power.

since those washed out, the best I got is not a word but the phrase “double bind”, for which impasse is a “soft” synonym.

Neither dilemma nor paradox fit.

There is something utterly solitary about the few bits of land around 60S that the comparatively crowded line of demarcation between the provinces and the territories cannot match.

How can you make a deal with Putin when he is in violation of several treaties and international law already? It's why they never bothered treating with Hitler, what would be the point? He has already proven on several occasions that he can't be trusted to keep any agreement. So, Ukraine drives the Russians from their land back to the 1991 borders and shells the fuckers inside Russia on the way out. The next move should be the destruction of Russian rail bridges well inside Russia to keep them inside their own country and then build a modern airforce and multilayered air defense system to keep them out. Since no treaty can be signed with Putin, who is a war criminal anyway, the war will continue in other places, most likely Belarus and by clandestine means inside Russia. The Ukrainians want their stolen children back and the Russians won't have peace until they are all accounted for at least.

No deals with Putin to end the war because no deals can be made with him, he must be deposed and there has to be genuine regime change for the war to end or the sanctions to come off. It's like getting into a relationship with a woman, sometimes it is easier to get into one than to end one! Some wars are like that too and supporting Ukraine won't cost the west much once the Russians are gone from Ukraine and their military power is broken along with their economy. It looks like the Ukrainian airforce will be surplus F16s as we transition to the next generation of fighters, and they will standardize their army equipment at some future point. If they can get Russian money as reparations, restore their agricultural exports and develop their oil and gas, they should do ok economically. Europe will need petroleum and NG for industrial, petrochemical and power generation purposes at least, Ukraine has it and it is right next door.

Like a fighter they need some kind of radar like system to find targets beyond visual range and superimpose the info onto the pilots googles or the OSD of the FPV drone. Perhaps they could use the transmissions of the enemy drone to track it, but if they could an FPV "fighter drone" might be useful for dealing with such enemy surveillance drones. That's how things evolved in WW1 reconnaissance planes were attacking each other until fighters were developed to deal with reconnaissance planes and defend them.
