War

So how is this different from last year? On a war, you think they are afraid when they have God on their side?

Where the fuck would it be popular in the US, dead returning to America. The Republicans just stopped whining about Afghanistan, how do you think they would applaud a new war but with an enemy much more capable?
They have social issues and war only makes that worse, they might have God on their side, but he doesn't shoot bullets and missiles. In America war with Iran would be like war with Japan in WW2, if Hitler never declared war on America, they would not have on Germany, Japanese got interned, German nazis in America did not. The vast majority of America's bigots and reactionaries are in the republican party and some kinds of wars make presidents popular and some kinds don't. The republican would not want to chance a serious war with American troops in the lead up to an election, simply because it might help Biden. They are reluctant to even keep the lights on in the place.

Iran has countries it wants better relationships with and who help them avoid sanctions and their trade is disrupted too, America might not need to be that much of a policeman in the region, others with more vital interests in the region want this shit to stop. Like anywhere else Iran is not a monolith, but contains more or less radicals in government, some push for this shit and some are opposed.

How Ukraine's signal-jamming guns stop Russian drones | DW News

Nearly two years into the war in Ukraine, kamikaze drones have become commonplace on both sides. One effective way to stop them is with drone guns that jam signals between a drone and its operator, preventing it from reaching its battlefield target.

‘Total about face’: Zelensky appears to reverse on firing top general

CNN’s Fred Pleitgen reports on an “apparent total about face” from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In a moment that many expected Zelensky to announce the replacement for Ukraine’s popular army chief Valery Zaluzhny, he called him his “commander in chief.”

I don't know why I ask.

Do you think the place is run by complete nut cases and they have no foreign interests or other considerations? Do you think there are not elements in America that want a Holy war with Iran and the same there?

Personally, I think a measured approach is warranted and Joe knows what he is doing, and Iran will come around and rein in those assholes or the Americans and allies will destroy them. I also think if countries in the region figure Iran is blocking shipping in the region, they will take it out on Iran.

A trillion-dollar war bill, Russians have it held largely privately abroad, when they stole money, they moved it out of the country to banks and real-estate, nobody kept their money in Russia or invested there much. I dunno how much of they will see, historically big war reparations have not worked out too well and Russia will have their economy destroyed. However, the money would be taken from rich bastards who basically stole it and stashed it in the west, but collecting it might be an issue.

In America it makes a difference to some people who the country goes to war with, just like it makes a difference with terrorism. Rightwing lunatics can commit terrorist acts in America that a Muslim would not get away with. Strangely there is a difference between Islamic terrorism and domestic terrorism, yet the results are exactly the same and so are the motives basically. An Islamic terrorism act would get a lot more traction and reaction than a domestic terrorist attack. Many republicans would not be reluctant to go to war with Muslim Iran but not white Christian Russia, some even support Russia in the current war FFS.

I don't think Iran has full control of the host of lunatics and desperados it supports in the middle east. They were obviously blindsided by the terrorist attack on Israel, because Israel never bombed the living shit out of them yet but are doing a pretty thorough job on Gaza. Likewise, those idiots shooting missiles at American, and any other passing ship are not in their full control either. America supports Israel, is anybody gonna tell me Bebe is under US control? Or under the influence of any compassion whatsoever? There are 2 million people in Gaza and half of them are Children FFS and Israel is bombing the shit out of the place with large unguided "we don't give a fuck" bombs. People in the middle eastern Muslim world is incensed and rightly so, it is a crime against humanity and not much different than what the Russians are doing. Joe is freaking out over it as he should, but he has limited control over the situation.

Iran is no angel and is run by a bunch of religious extremist assholes, similar to the speaker of the US house, another religious lunatic. However, they are a democracy of sorts too and do have fair and free elections where women can vote. The government's policy is one of grievance and retribution and they are causing a lot of unnecessary trouble for other people and themselves. Another place that will end up leaving its oil in the ground while the world moves on and passes them by, like Russia It has a growing population with a lot of young people who use the internet and cellphones. I expect over time it will have its effect, it even does in China, and they regulate it like a broadcast TV network.

And just think, we possibly have a similar capability but submerged. Silent stalk, final sprint. Kerplunk.

Good thing the Houthis can’t cobble such a thing together. Their Iranian leashholders might, but are likely too wise to risk war with the West by giving them anything so destabilizing.
The Iranians are shrewd, and playing the long game, similar to China in that they see the US as a juvenile(we're only 250 yrs old) and easily distracted and can be waited out,a muscled up guy w/no stamina or staying power compared to their cultures that span thousands of years,so they apply the wisdom of a elder in their dealings w/the US. I don't think they are totally convinced that we won't implode or can last for the long haul.

The arms tech race is now a mind blowing spy vs. spy on steroids, mass integrated drone warfare,6th gen NGAD and F/A XX w/loyal drone wing men, hypersonic missiles that can maneuver and then possibly back to sticks and stones when the capability to fry all circuitry emerges. Just hope the big nation states find a way to maintain, even today all out conflict short of nukes between near peers will involve massive cyber that result in no electricity, failing nuke plants, loss of all banking/economic info, and total supply chain breakdown, all too scary to contemplate ,especially considering soft ass populations of divided people, many of whom will melt down without their I-phone for 8 hrs.Just the lack of electricity will pretty much turn people into animals after a week or even less.

But we still have not got our flying cars yet.

Researchers are reporting modest initial success.

Which reminds me about coming home one day. There is a creek by my place and the bridge over it has a two foot high concrete divider in the middle separating traffic. In the middle of the bridge there was a car balanced on top of the divider. No idea how it flew up or stopped in a position where it did not tilt one way or the other side of the divider.

Not really. Nobody is showing something that can both flying and car. It’s as tiresome as reading about cheap batteries or solar nobody can buy.
Off topic, but that particular geopolitical war is covered on another thread along with tariffs and CATL building turnkey factories for Ford and selling equipment to Tesla to make those cheap batteries in America.

Israel is bombing the shit out of Gaza and herding the people like sheep, half the population of Gaza are children and I expect most of them will survive this. What do you think the odds are of another cycle of violence perpetuating into the future? I'm not too concerned about the conflict spreading or turning into a general war, unless Israel is Hell bent on killing as many of those kids in Gaza as they can. The region has been through this shit before, many times.

Does this help Israels future security by having so many impressionable kids hate them.
