Thanks to US money Ukraine just opened new cemetery for 1,5 million graves. Is that a good enough return on that investment for you?

Putin invaded Ukraine because NATO and US in particular broke a lot of signed on paper promises made after the collapse of Soviet Union. The last one was invitation of Ukraine to be a NATO candidate country.
I don't support invasion what so ever, but to say it was unprovoked, is just lack of knowledge on the context.
Every Ukrainian who died due to this war was put in the grave by Russian aggression. The only leader who said Putin's invasion of Ukraine was provoked was Putin himself. It's turned into an unmitigated disaster for the people of Russia and Putin himself. The head spinning twist of logic required to agree with Putin follows this sort of path:

Putin literally flattened Chenya in the second war with that nation
Putin attacked Georgia and annexed their land.
Putin attacked Ukraine in Crimea and annexed their land
Ukraine protested
Putin attacked Ukraine in the Donbas region (little green men)
Ukraine protested
Ukraine decided to look elsewhere for allies other than the nation that is annexing Ukraine one region at a time.
Russian military thought they could knock Ukraine out of the war in days so they invaded.
Putin says Ukraine provoked the attack.

Come on, man, do better than that. It's simply silly to say Putin was provoked unless one dives into the dark triad theory that justifies saying so by invoking extreme narcissistic sociopathy as a "reason".

I empathize with the Russian people. They are at the mercy of a narcissistic sociopath who cares nothing about their wellbeing, only his own. That said, the sooner Putin is defeated in Ukraine, the sooner Putin will be given a lead pill in the head to cure his disease.

IT is time for European countries to get plucky w/ Russia, with what Russia has showed in Ukraine a force consisting of France/Germany/Poland/Holland/Belgium/Sweden/Finland/the Baltic states/and England would put a ass kicking on Russia conventionally, their combined air forces would rule the skies and the seas w/ combined navies not even including the US.
Additionally, 450mil people in EU, 67mil in UK, and 84mil Turks. Total 4x Russian population. And that doesn’t even include Ukraine. Without nukes Russia could still be a p.i.t.a. but not antyhing like today.

I don't think it was a gaffe.
Given the fact the French PM doubled down a day later on what President Macron said, I don't think so either.

I always found this picture to be intriguing and funny at the same time. NATO secretary general and others pointing to the toilets after seeing old and incontinent Trump leak shit from his ankles and leaving a trail on the stage. Meanwhile, look at Macron envisioning...

a trial balloon.
France is the largest military power in the EU (since UK left), 3rd global arms exporter (could be second if Russia no longer is). It's a trial balloon topped with a lil flexing. Even though the threat is real and sometimes the media paints Europe as defenseless, France is not afraid, France is not an underdog. Despite the large difference in number of warheads, France has enough nuclear power to wipe out the most populated areas in Russia.

Right now, talk is cheap and yet, it seems to have rattled Russia's commanders enough to get their diplomats out there making threats. Just talking about sending NATO troops into Ukraine is an escalation. One that I had not anticipated. I wonder what Putin told Trump to say about this?
Yeah, seems their bros,Orange-aid is putty in Putin's hands and it seems to me the sky is the limit concerning Putin's ability to manipulate,I wonder if they communicate and how(CIA has to be all over this possibility),and if so it's treasonous on Trump's part. That blatant praise/understanding/acceptance by the R's in this country is REALLY taking place for Putin is another "Twilight Zone" situation as the blunt, brutal, nasty, and indiscriminate war he launched makes him a pariah that all US govts. up till now would universally condemn,I'd of bet the house on it. Times are a changin>:(

The European countries are not built to fight the War Ukraine finds itself in,they are not super powerful in #'s of infantry/armor/artillery,but they have more air/naval power than Russia, and would attack Russian troops on the ground mercilessly before making contact w/their ground forces, they would use armor/and infantry in movement after heavy attrition of Russia's army, and yeah England and France have just enough nuclear capability in their subs to turn Russia into a ashtray.

Bilateral, thus not including the larger amount through EU. Relatively, factoring in population difference, that would be like 40billion USD from the US. Given that supposedly approximately a 3rd of US support ends up back in the (military industry in the) US, I'd say that's bill is not an unreasonable amount.

"Six other countries signed similar agreements with Ukraine in recent days, including Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom."

War is not just good business for Russia and US (I'm being sarcastic, war is net bad for everyone, especially long term). We in NL can do that too.

"The Dutch government on Friday said it would replace nearly its entire navy fleet in the coming 15 years, in a project worth several billion euros that it said would mainly benefit Dutch industry [because we build the ships]"

"Coming 15 years", I guess they're optimistic they'll still be needed by then.

excerpt; emphasis mine:

After finally defeating, at incredible cost in people and equipment, the ammo-starved Ukrainian garrison in the ruins of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine two weeks ago, the Russian army in Ukraine is advancing against other Ukrainian garrisons that also are running out of ammo—all thanks to Russia-aligned Republicans in the U.S. Congress, who have been blocking further U.S. aid to Ukraine since October.

Scholz, however, today reiterated his opposition to sending the missiles and made clear that it was ultimately up to him to take the decision. "I am the chancellor, and therefore this applies,"

i've always wondered why they won't send those missles to UA. I heard they have the potential to take out the Kerch Bridge cause of they're design...guess Germany will decided when it wants too....
