I have a smaller foam version of this design called a Talon, this one is constructed differently, but it is essentially an electric RC plane with a sensor ball. It can be controlled remotely or use GPS for autonomous operation, the flight control computer with an OSD gives you flight instruments and there are cheap FPV cameras can see pretty good at night. Typically, these are controlled using a monitor screen and not using FPV googles since the flights can be hours in duration. Once launched in launch mode, the operator hits a switch on the transmitter and it will begin its preprogrammed route, ending with a return to the launch point.
