This Is The Biggest Setback Of War - Putin Is Terrified & Ashamed Of His Forces General Ben Hodges
When Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24 last year, no one would have expected the Russian Aerospace Forces would be so ineffective.
On paper, Russia had a highly competent air force composed of hundreds of fourth-generation fighter jets as well as attack and transport helicopters. But Russian aircraft have never able to achieve air superiority over Ukraine.

Retired US Allied Commander, Ben Hodges has recently expressed his views that Russia’s inability to achieve air supremacy in the skies above Ukraine continues to emerge and it has surprised everyone. Because considering the obvious and well-known numerical discrepancy between Russia’s more than 700 fighter jets and Ukraine’s roughly 64 fighters would make sense to such a big failure. Now everyone in Moscow want to know that why can’t Russia achieve air superiority? And It has been what could be called a lingering mystery to a certain extent.

RV: The Armed Forces of Ukraine use "armored mutants" in the battles for Artemovsk.
Servicemen of the Ukrainian army in the battles for Bakhmut (Artemivsk) use "armored mutants". This is reported by Russian war correspondents from the scene.

“Kyiv throws armored mutants into battle in Bakhmut. Some strange creation of the Ukrainian dark genius was seen in Artemovsk (Bakhmut). An incomprehensible armored vehicle based on the T-64 without a turret, but with a machine gun and dynamic protection "Kontakt-1"" - reports the telegram channel "Russian Spring Military Corps".

In Bakhmut, the most violent situation is now observed within the framework of the Russian special operation. The battles for the city have been going on for several months. Most of Bakhmut is controlled by the Russian military. In particular, Wagner PMC fighters are fighting for the main railway junction in the western part of the city. If the Ukrainian army loses this battle, then Kiev's Western partners will push for peace talks , according to former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

Just keep listening to Scott and victory will be for Russia.

Closing summary
It is just past 8pm in Kyiv on Orthdox Easter Sunday, and that concludes today’s Ukraine war live blog. Thanks for following along. Here is a summary of the latest developments:

  • A row is brewing over Poland and Hungary’s decision to ban grain imports from Ukraine to protect their own agricultural sectors. Reuters reports that a European Commission spokesperson said unilateral action on trade by European Union member states was “not acceptable”.
  • Following Poland and Hungary’s decision, Bulgaria is considering a similar move. Local news agency BTA reported that the agriculture minister, Yavor Gechev, said the country was mulling over a ban on Ukrainian grain imports.
  • Ukrainian and Russian armed forces are fighting extraordinarily bloody battles in the ruined eastern city of Bakhmut, but pro-Kyiv forces are still holding on, Ukraine’s military has said.
  • The death toll from a Russian missile strike on the eastern Ukraine city of Sloviansk has risen to 11. A block of flats was badly damaged and rescue crews were continuing on Saturday to try to rescue people trapped underneath rubble.
  • Russian shelling in Kherson killed two women on Saturday, the Ukrainian president’s office said.
  • A Russian official has claimed four people were killed and 10 injured in Ukrainian shelling of a town in Russian-controlled Donetsk. Denis Pushilin said a seven-year-old girl was among those wounded in Yasynuvata.
  • Russia has been using drones to attack Ukrainian police in Kherson, according to the region’s police force. It said a police car was attacked in the Korabel area, injuring two officers and damaging the car, while in Beryslav one officer was injured and cars damaged.
  • A new international economic support package of $115bn (£93bn) is giving Ukraine more confidence it can prevail against Russian forces amid growing recognition the war could continue for longer than expected, the Ukrainian finance minister said on Saturday. Serhiy Marchenko said Group of Seven (G7) finance ministers assured him during International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings in Washington this week that they would support Ukraine for as long as needed.
  • Volodymyr Zelenskiy spoke to the French president, Emmanuel Macron, on Saturday. In two tweets, the Ukrainian president said they had discussed Macron’s recent visit to Beijing to meet China’s president, Xi Jinping.
  • The Ukrainian foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, will visit Baghdad on Monday, his first trip to Iraq since Russia invaded Ukraine. Kuleba is expected to hold talks with the Iraqi prime minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and the foreign minister, Fuad Hussein.
  • YouTube is hosting videos that promote the Wagner group, the Russian private military company accused of war crimes, according to a report by the Sunday Times. Dozens of propaganda clips on the platform glorify the mercenary group, encourage viewers to join it, and even raise money for the paramilitary organisation. A YouTube spokesperson told the Sunday Times: “Content intended to praise, promote, or aid violent extremist or criminal organisations is not allowed on YouTube.”
  • The Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has called for establishing a group of countries that are not involved in the Russia-Ukraine war in order to broker peace. Lula, who has criticised the role of the US and the European Union in the conflict, spoke of attempting to gather a group of leaders who “prefer to talk about peace rather than war”, citing China’s Xi Jinping and the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, both of whom he met this week.
  • Thousands of people gathered for a demonstration in Prague on Sunday, calling on the Czech government to resign over the country’s economic woes and its response to the Russia-Ukraine war. Chanting “resign” and “shame”, protesters called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and urged the Czech Republic to leave Nato.

Things are drying up and greening up there, soon I should think, the Russians are shitting their pants in anticipation, or should be if they have any idea of what is coming. Russian officers should be particularly skittish, anybody who knows what is happening should be, the Russian telegram channel is full of shit but is sometimes very frank about their situation and condition.

America’s proxy war? No, Ukraine’s liberation war

It has become a proxy war, but the proxy is more than willing, there is no coercion.
Russia started this conflict, really in 2014, and the Ukrainians weren't happy about it, but they didn't want a war, so they let the russians lie about their referendum, and just cleaned up the mess after the russian staged pro russian demonstrations in eastern Ukraine.
Then putin decided to take the rest of Ukraine, and that was just too much for the Ukrainians to take. They fought back, They asked for help, and we gave it to them them, too slowly at first, but now the backlog in training is the only slowdown, really. They don't want to stop fighting till russia is out of Ukraine, and not likely to come back any time soon. So they fight the war we can't, without risking nuclear disaster, and they do it willingly.
If they change their minds, and decide they want to negotiate, that will be their choice as well, and we should respect that, if that ever comes to pass, but i don't see that, after all the atrocities the russians have inflicted on the Ukrainians.

For those not familiar with Mr. Ritter, he's been a Putin sycophant since he was released from prison.

I wonder if Vlad will cancel the May 9th victory day parade on Red Square? Ukraine could start its offensive with in the next week or two and could be 3 weeks into a military catastrophe for the Russians will mass of troops surrendering in Ukraine on Victory Day! It is hard to imagine a more humiliating situation for Putin, the army going to Hell and the Ukrainians rampaging with blitzkriegs while artillery and missiles pound everything close by. The Ukrainians will make sure there are lots of images and news before or on May 9th, it is also victory day for Ukrainians too, but they will shift that date for future celebration to when the kick the Russians out. Maybe they will keep May 9th day as rubbing it in the Russian's nose day!

Hear why retired general thinks Ukraine could regain territory from Russia

Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling predicts there will be no war win by Ukraine in 2023, but believes they can regain some of the territory they have lost to Russia.

O its a proxy war for sure. Could easily turn into WW3. Granted WW3 or a nuclear war is over due and has been predicted by the Doomsday clock. Maybe it wouldn't be to bad of an idea to get a nuclear war over and done with.
Ukraine is not part of NATO and the US has cajoled, threatened and "encouraged" other NATO countries to get involved. US is even profiteering off the war. Its not like they are giving everything to Ukraine out of the goodness of their heart like some countries have. Nato forces are on the ground in Ukraine as the leaked documents show and they shouldn't be. Cracks are showing in the NATO and EU members and now the US wants Poland to be another European military might like UK, Germany or France? That's not going to go down well in the future as Poland continues to drift to the far right. Poland is full of neo-Nazis, neo-fascists and ultra-nationalists. Thats a NATO country vs NATO country conflict in the making. Hope the Republicans are not in power when that happens and/or the US drifts way more to the left than they have been in lots of years.

Whats the chances of escalation 50/50? 70/30?
Whats the timeline for this war IF China supports Russia like the US is supporting Ukraine? 10 years? 15? Could this thread be the longest in RIU history? Bloody good chance.
  • Russian president Vladimir Putin has met Chinese defence minister Li Shangfu in Moscow. Putin said the two countries were “working actively through our military departments” and regularly exchanging “useful information” while Li said ties between the two countries had “already entered a new era” and surpassed “the military-political alliances of the cold war era”.
  • Ukrainian forces are finding a growing number of components from China in Russian weapons used in Ukraine, a senior adviser in president Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s office told Reuters. China has repeatedly denied sending military equipment to Russia.

It’s Time for President Biden to Invoke the Defense Production Act
War is good for the incumbent prez provided it doesn't last to long.
Your NRA and The Defence manufacturing industry will love it, their shares are all up.
