#2 is Singapore with 3 per 100,000 live births
In the United States the MMR in 2010 was 21 per 100,000!

Our laws prevented the doctors from acting differently.
Our healthcare is free and it still costs the public purse 5 times less than the US's semi-private system.

I've been in medicine since 1976. People talk about so much shit that they know nothing about concerning medicine. Save the "I've been a patient". No shit? Hasn't everybody and way more than once? The fricking idiots being dragged to health are so frigging stupid that is beyond incredulous.
Think of the US like a human body or an automobile. Made up of a number of components, all necessary (supposedly). What good does it do if the engine (the rich) can't get fuel (money) from the fuel pump (us idiots working to make it for them).
Ben Stein just said that the figures estimated for many of the wealthy's future tax increase if Obama got exactly what he wants (Ben and I agree he will never get that) it would mean one less Bentley for the very richest in the US. Remember Papa John's 22 car underground garage at his 40,000 square foot mansion with its own valet office!!!!!
Stein assured the viewers and listeners that these rich would survive and the revenue is necessary and needed now.
And not needed for "Obamacare". In short - we need a healthy population for many reasons. Not the least important of which is a labor pool!!!! But we need to work to eliminate reservoirs of illness such as tuberculosis which is not only back but back with a vengeance. And many strains (oh yes there are more than a few) is highly drug resistant.
Diabetes is rampant and OK now leads the nation with a huge increase in the last 10 years. Obesity is mostly to blame but poor diet is a huge contributor. With these conditions facing an aging population only a bunch of rich assholes would fight this and only a bunch of work-a-day lackeys would be thick enough to buy into their reasoning while overlooking things like I have pointed out here.

I'm aware the laws prevented it but doctors do go against the law at times around the world if an ethics board okays it. I'm not faulting the doctors but that specific portion of your law.
