I just came home from Mexico and wanted to bring a seed sooooooo bad but didnt feel like ending ip in jail over it lol. Worst weed I've smoked in 20 years. Oh and $20 a gram. Fucking ripoff.
Youre not kidding its god awful but i didnt pay nearly 20 a gram lol, $20 got me about 3-5 grams and even THAT was a ripoff. Tulum and Cancun.

What's funny is. . .. of all the seeds I've popped, paid for by me or someone else, ranging from $3 per seed to upwards of $30 per seed. ... The best shit I've grown to date was a random chuck my buddy made & I dropped one single seed, & it was absolutely perfect in every way.
i would be askin what the cross was, then get beans or cut from your friend, and go at it again!

Smoked the worst weed I’ve smoked in 15 years in Progresso  smoking hog legs that would barely get you high lol

Would the likes of sensi and greenhouse count as premium genetics?

Why are some seed companies selling seeds for so expensive? Are they better or just flavor of the month?

Do the old genetics from Europe stand up against modern Cali hybrids for flavor, thc and terps?
If you are seeking feminized hybridized cultivars then Arjan is for you. Want to grow it again and breed? Find someone else.

I was there about 10 years ago,
ripoff & worst weed I ever smoked.

This was when we went into Playa del Carmen which is a total tourist trap & price was more than in Canada grown indoors.

ALL my seeds used to be bag seeds back in the 70's. That was the only way to get seeds. They just came with the bales of leaves, sticks, rocks and other junk that we used to get ripped off with whenever someone made a run south of the border to buy a couple pounds. But every now and then, we'd get lucky. Problem with that was that no one knew shit about how to grow any of it. We'd just throw it in the dirt and hope for the best. I wish I had those seeds now!

I've had pretty decent luck with some fairly recent bag seed grows, too. I remember a few years ago, when GG#4 first hit the scene. There was a local grower/company that sent out several batches that had PERFECT seeds in a few of the buds. I kept every one, ended up with like 40 of them over the course of several months... and then decided to pop one. It grew very well...did not throw any 'nanners...and the smoke turned out to taste like GG#4. It wasn't a very high-yielder, though, but so what? Taste-wise, it stood up against the most expensive seeds I ever bought. I think next year's grow will be all bag seeds and old seeds that I saved from the 90's when I was buying on the street....if any of them are still viable.

I've found the best of the best of all the breeders out there is Dominion Seed Co hands down. The plants check every box when you grow them. Yield, smell, flavor, potency, type of high, bag appeal.
I am a breeder as well, and I know what it takes to accomplish great seed representation, but Duke Diamond from Dominion does it right.

Other great brands:
Bless Coast Seeds
TwoDog Seeds (for Fems done right)
BLackbird Preservations
Irie Genetics
Gonzo Genetix
and many others all do things right.

It’s mostly up to genetics. Get something crossed to gg4, gelato 41, or wedding cake if you want nice bag appeal
What about GG#4 s1 by CSI humboldt would it be as fire?

Any gelato 41 seed sources your aware of than might mimic orginal as I can't find seeds plus I am in Canada so limits things a bit?
thanks

I would go with a cross for vigor. S1 are by in large not as good as their parents, with a decent proportion being a good representation, and the potential of something even better. Some plants produce better s1 than others aswell.

If you're looking for CSI gear, Big Bad Wolf 1 and 2 get consistent praise. Technically still inbred, so keep that in mind.

Because no one mentioned him yet, I’ll add GooeyBreeder from CannaExotics to the list. Every pack and even the partial packs have given me something that’s unique and that stands out. He doesn't like to breed with other people’s gear, and breeds his own original stuff, mostly from landraces. He‘s also one of those dedicated few that will flower out and smoke a male to check it’s potency.

I have to 100% agree. I totally forgot to put Gooeybreeder on my list but he absolutely 100% belongs there. If you don't have Gooeybreeder gear in your garden you are missing out big time, I got like 20 packs of his.
