What Is The Best Consistency for Making BHO?

i want to know if hand chopped with scissors to a chunky consistency, or putting your herb in a coffee grinder and practically pulverizing it. i was always told you do not want to break the heads, and i also read somewhere a long time ago having a bigger surface area is better to purge. i have made BHO many, many times. but every time is different then the last. quantity, color, taste and even harshness has always been different, but i was always using "Pre-tendies" weed. a higher grade of brick weed.

Shit in, shit out. Use good marijuana, pre-tendies contain very little intact resin heads, and no terpenes.

But break into .1-.2 nugs, don't grind up. Make sure your tube is packed tight. You say you've done bho many many times...then why haven't you done some research and perfect your technique so you not smoking tane. Just a thought, it's all out there. Mainly on TC...but some on here and THC farmer

because when i was making it several years ago it came out great! the reggie i smoke is a lot better then you can imagine, but thats purely up for debate since you can not see it. i am a potsnob and a half! i smoke GOOD weed! now i just puff danks and my stuff i grow, but im thee pickiest person you will ever meet. the stuff i was using was better then the reggie most people see. but anyways. next point. it was new to everyone still. not many people even knew about it when i picked up my Honey Bee Extractor. so i can of was making my own methods work. now that its all over the internet, and more and more people are picking up on concentrates and BHO and oils and what not, i figure there has got to be a better way then how i was making it. PLUS!!! have you ever been to Youtube? ever watch a few videos on people making the stuff? notice how everyone does it differently? yup! that right there sparked my interest in starting a thread. i was seeing if my method WAS the best? like i said every time was different. it was a long time ago. what i have heard a long time ago could have been good info for back then, but time shave changed and more and more people are making it, therefore perfecting the method of making BHO. see where im coming from now my friend??

I pretty much have the harshness down and the color down to where it comes out the same everytime even using different strains but the taste and amount is strain dependent

I use my herb grinder. It breaks up the buds to the right consistency, just enough to separate all them calyxes, exposing as much surface area as possible, without turning it to dust fine enough to fall through a kief screen.

another reason why its called Pre-tendies. is because it literally looks like dank weed, but with about 5 seeds per ounce. and its only $60 an ounce and usually from south of the border. or i could take it an hour and a half drive away and get 3x the amount. but honestly i dont mess with it anymore. its been a few years since i have looked and have needed to look for anything other then dank. plus i have not run out in over 5 years (knock on wood). guess its the demographics. some also call it prentendakind. or pretendies for short. Sexy Mexy is another term, but that isn't really what i call good mexi. have you heard the term "Christmas Buds"?

Ummm...I guess since your older your definition of dank weed is a little different than mine. Pretty sure nothing south of the border looks dank. Period. You want dank, come up north. Although I have heard mexican schwag has gotten better over the years...it doesn't even begin to compare.

hahah! you are seriously proving your lack of education towards the plant.... a LOT! of the strains we are buying off Attitude today are from oldschool Mexican genetics. and ive seen Mexican Dank weed more then once. its amazing!! i have also seen america n schwag weed grown in Oregon. i have been around the block, been there done that. i even have the shirt to prove it!! it seems like you started smoking a little bit too late. not to sound offensive or snotty, but that is just my observation.

thast far from the truth my friend. Mexican schwag HAS gotten way worse over the years. NOT better. trust me on that one. i live in a border state. been smoking for over 20 years. i had a buddy ask me if i thought there was really 1000's of strains. i looked at him and said i believe there could be 100 of thousands of strains. MJ has been grown for the entire time the earth has been in orbit. so i do believe what i see ;) and i have seen the dank Mexi's!! more then once....

what would you call the Acapulco Gold and Maui Wawi and them old Landrace genetics of the 70's? i would never call them schwag ever.... those were in fact "dank" strains. people just didnt start calling it dank and chronic til the early to mid nineties. but the better weed that was back then, is still inbreed in a lot of strains available today. believe it or not my friend...

We grew up in different times, so our definition of dank is very different. First off, your are probably right that many strains used today are cross's of old 70's strains...but what you aren't taking into account is how many times it's been cross-bread, then chosen the strongest pheno again and again...so after 30 years of cross breading/survival of the fittest, you get a much higher quality. I'm not sure what your trying to get across? I understand that everywhere you go there is going to be good and bad weed...that's just how the cookie crumbles. I consider this dank...and I doubt they have any "dank mexican pre-tendies" that come close to this. Let alone have any resin heads still intact.

The plant hasnt changed that rapidly im sure there was plenty of highly potent weed with lots of trichs grown in mexico in the 70's

The difference in good weed and bad is how it was grown and shipped and cured and handled not because of bad genetics ive grown some very good stuff with bag seed for genetics witch was from dirt weed.

^What has changed is the knowledge about the plant, and the conditions in which it is grown and dried. I'm just going to have to agree to disagree with you that there was as good of weed back then as there is now.

@oHsiN No counter point? What's the point in debating when you give up that quick? I'm not saying your wrong at all, just trying to state my opinion while trying to understand yours. You got a lot of years on me...so why not spit some knowledge and put me in my place?

Knowledge has changed but potency hasnt and if we have buds with a bunch of trichs now this trait didnt just come out of techniques thats genetics all you need to do is have an experienced grower. We may have better techniques for yield but i dont believe that there is more potent weed today then there was 30 years ago.

im not arguing with kids... and i dont have the time to type pout mass posts just to make my point. i know what i know, and if you don't know it, then educate yourself. read a book. travel. buy weed in more then just your home town. expand your horizon son.
