hi guyz,
Well ive finally got started. I was away for 7weeks there and had no access to net, Grrrr, was pulling my hair out...Im very glad to be back. Brillant site u have here.

Anyways, what im growing and what with:

Nirvana White Widow Seeds (10 pack)
1x 250w HID (sodium) light (thought it was 400, but it isnt)
1x 9" Oscillating FAN
John Innes compost
5x peat pots (had perlite in the mix but it drys out far too quick in the peat pots so i just did all medium)
Cupboard about 7ft high, 6ft wide and 2and1/2feet depth.

24-may-07
Sowed seeds on a saucer with kitchen paper. Dampend with water, put it in a plastic bag and placed in a warm dark room. Sowed 5 seeds.
30-may-07
All 5 seeds sprouting well. Was a nice sight to see all 5 :) Have to water them like every 4-6hours. Nightmare. Ill wait aweek before repotting, dont want to stress em out.
1-jun-07
All plants doing better than i expected, rather quicker. 1 seedling is abit slower than the others, so i may bin this runt of the litter. Not feeding yet, as there not even 1week old.

Alittle video, not great qual but will do. YouTube - My Seedlings 1stJun07

PICS: cant take a pic in the cupboard cos the screen on the cam goes all funny. Refresh rate probaly low as aint a gr8 cam.

28 may, the seeds starting to appear

We are almost exactly on the same page as far as how far along in the grow we each are. It'll be good to have someone to compare everything to, especially since we both started almost EXACTLY at the same time and have the same strain.

Day 6 pictures (excuse the crap qual of the pic).

Only regret is i cant get dam perlite in local stores. Luckily the soil i got is very spongy texture, so as long as i dont squash it with watering, it should be ok
(fingers crossed)

BTW moved plants to about 10inches away from the light.

Looking good except for the curling leaves on some of the plants - how much are you watering and how far away are your lights? To me it looks like heat stress, but I'm also inclined to ask if you are actually UNDER watering. Before my "incident" I was watering daily, but doing it via a water sprayer (on the mist setting), and they were looking fantastic. When I killed them I took some time to examine root growth and it was much more dense than I was expecting.

Keep up the good work, I'll be staying in touch.

hi pntballking01, sorry to hear about ur plants mate, must be a low blow for ya.
Well i moved plants down a little bit this morning again, about 4in, as another leave showed signs of curling again. I also changed my watering ways. Id usually let the plant soak water from the bottom, in a tray, but im now doing it from the top (plastic bootle with a few holes in lid and kept in cupboard for the heat.

the light is now about 2ft away from tip of plant.

hi pntballking, when i water i water from above and water her from underneath in a baseplate. the plants were about 10-12inch from light, but got a bit sunburnt so ive moved down to just below 2ft.

I just thought this morning when i was checking the plants, the bloody glass is still on the light, to protect the bulb. should i take this off, as it holds some heat and maybe thats why im scorching my plants????
Sorry to hear about ur plants :(

drgreenthumb ur plants are looking bloody fantastic :)

Pics posted later....

PS aha, 100 posts :) do i get a lollypop or something lol

I would keep it at least 2 feet away while the plants are still young as yours are. What is the temp. at the level of the plants? I deff. think it looks like a combination of heat stress and overwatering. Leaving MJ plants sitting in a pool of water is bad, especially when they're young. You'll be much better off watering lightly from the top, and keep in mind to keep watering lightly until they are a bit bigger. I think it's better to water lightly once a day or so while they're young then heavily every other day. Save that for once they really have the roots to suck all that water up.

Like I said before, I used a mister to water until the top inch or two was pretty moist and did this nightly. Plants loved it. Let me know the temp. inside the closet @ plant level though, I'm interested to see what it's at. Keep up the good work - if you've corrected your problem expect the already curled leaves to stay that way, but new growth to look much better.

Arrrgggg, took to long to post, had to resign inlol

pantballking LOL ive always wondered what ur nick ment, Paint Ball king lol its all coming clear LOL

Anyways, my temp is 25-26oC, just under 80F at tip of plants. I used the mister to water my plants at the start to, but water wasnt reaching the roots at bottom of the pot, so when i water it underneath every 2days, it seems totake a jump in height. Now i use a old plastic lemonade bottle with slight holes in the lid, works just aswell. I wouldnt say i over-water plants, im quite good at judging water intake (hopefully, famous last words lol)

Pics from today. Pity slight damage was already done, but growing great anyways....

U CAN SEE PLANT THAT WAS WORSE EFFECTED

I put plant base with water in for the humidity.

they look quiet dry in pics and leafs are curling maybe start watering more little and often should see a diffrence or get saucer under them and allow 10% drain off thats how i have always watered and learnt it from a grow dvd hope this might help you=) and what you air flow like in that room? could be theres not enough c02 getting in there???

Ok, had to try something cos plants getting abit dry, and it didnt help last night when i forgot to replug in my dam fan, so when it came on at 6am, the fan didnt, till about 11:00am, and the heat was something else...

I moved fans around. I have my main one blowing air at the glass of the light and another one blowing gently on the plants. since ive done this it looks alot better and temp has dropped right down, though some damage done :(

ill take pics in awee while...

so greenthumb, obviously abit dry there, damit lol looking better now. ive also made a point of watering the plants abit more. new set leaves are looking better so hopefully i got the prob fixed just in time....i also watered plants every second day from a saucer, but started it daily now.

another thing is that light looks like hps to me you should be using metal halide for veg and hps for flower??????????
hi greenthumb, yea that was my orignal plan was to get a MH for vegging. But since i joined here and watched a few dvds ive heard that MH is not absoulte essential, so i decided to opt out of a MH. Anyways since ive been reading ur progress i want a couple of CFLs lol im going check town tomorrow for these bulbs and use them for vegging.

plants doing good, ill post a pic in a few days. Im trying not to look at them alot LOL but its hard...:)
