Lights on it stay's around 78-80 degrees. The MiniPloid is just starting to get yellow on the edges of the leafs at day 34 of flower. It was watered yesterday with some Cal-Mag so we will see what it does in the next day or so. Those two yellow plants will get clear water from now on. They still have some green growth happening in the flowers but are getting close to done.

Spent some time in the room changing the ventilation between the veg area and flower area. My carbon scrubber fan in the flower room pulls air through both rooms via a 6 inch duct between the rooms and a 5 inch tube from the outside entering into the veg room. The 5 inch tube has a filter for bugs.
I replaced the 6 inch duct with a 20x20x1 filter element with a light trap on the flower room side. Here is what it looks like from the veg side.

The air flows great and the wall no longer want's to be sucked into the flower room.

I turned off the light's so I could run my Swiffer through the cool tubes and got some pics of the true colors happening in the room of death..

Any chance we can see a pic of the flower side of that filter with the light trap? Very interesting...:)

You bet! I will get a pic of it today. It is real simple, just a cardboard box with a few baffles in it to stop the light from traveling through it.

The wife and daughter went into town to hit up the mall. The kid had around $300 cash from Christmas and her birthday and needed to spend some of it. When they got home the daughter said, Here dad, these are for your plant's!! I love my girls!!!

20140106_191519.jpg

I busted up the root ball from the Whorlytriploid. Minimal spin-out since it was in fabric and could breath.

20140106_111829.jpg

This was a clone so no tap root. There is a lot of very small root material in the soil that should break down and become food for the soil.

20140106_120252.jpg

I went over to the local feed store to see if they had any soils or compost's. The only thing they had was Alfalfa meal and Kelp meal.

20140107_123114.jpg

I had some pot's sitting in the garage from my last few rounds that where frozen so I brought them into the house to thaw out. I had an empty tub that half of the the old Christmas tree was stored in, yep the wife freaked out when she saw it full of soil...

I amended this with some Alfalfa meal, Kelp meal, Blood meal, Bone meal, Jobes Organic 4-4-4 fertilizer, Garden lime and chicken compost. I mixed some fish emulsion 5-1-1 and some Molasses into a few gallons of water and poured it in and mixed it up. I need to pick up some more perlite to add to it before it gets used in a month or two.

20140109_071721.jpg

I can't find EWC in town but I did see some Mushroom compost that I might pick up. I also can't find any perlite that is NOT Miracle Grow so the search continues....

Mad Paint Skilz... Not to scale!

Opening in double layer 1" rigid insulation. Light doesn't pass through two 1" pieces...

The box is 4"x 24"x 36"

The air comes out towards the floor at the opposite corner from the carbon filter.

That pic...second from last is messing with my head  Is that an aquarium??? :???: I like all these organics...do you not want to order perlite or EWC online?

I used the box that our 55 gallon aquarium came in. I'm cool with ordering on line, I would rather find it local so I can just take a ride and have it the same day. I am also trying to stay away from the grow stores since they tend to jack the price through the roof!

Lowes sells this 1 cubic foot bag for $3.88 so I will grab a bag next time I head to town.

I have this..

I see the home depot sells this online at $18.48 per cubic foot. I haven't seen it at the store.

Home Depot sells this on line.. 2 cubic feet for $16.97...

There are tons of choices for Guano, perlite and EWC's on Amazon at reasonable prices. Most of them are Amazon Prime so shipping would be free!! Hmmm.... Shopping from home sounds pretty good!! :-P

You can get a 30lb bag of worm castings for under 20 bucks at my hydro store :???: I've found that their prices are VERY reasonable with the exception of my soil (FFOF for $24/bag) I've got 3 bags invested into those 2 tubs my big girls are in  Here's the link http://www.urbansunshine.com/
Ive been using liquid seaweed in my water....inexpensive and the plants seem to love it...also you may want to consider tossing some pea gravel or grow rocks on top of your soil to keep the top layer from drying out and protect your soil a bit...just don't go crazy with it or you'll end up with fungus gnats and your soil will NEVER dry out...lol

I have been using chicken shit for years in my outdoor patches, Awesome results!! If its pellets, I would mix up a tea with it. I tried mixing it in the soil for my indoor container plants..... bad idea!! once the water turned it to mush, it dropped the ph to like 4.5 then burn't the hell out of them on top of a low ph. Its really good stuff but just be carefull with it indoors... (it might be a little different than what I was using...chicky doo) I regretted mixing it in the soil, I think I actually lost a couple plants. the plants I watered with chicky doo water did awesome!. looks like a good organic mixture tho!!

Ive never seen mushroom compost at my lowes... is it for growing mushrooms, or compost from the substrate used to grow mushrooms? looks good

The mushroom compost is what they grew in I believe. As for the chicken compost, that might be part of my problem IDK.. The stupid PH probe I have shows my soil is around 6.4 I think. There were no instructions for the darn thing. Here is where it generally reads in all of my pot's with a variance of .1 either way depending on which pot I poke it in.

20140113_101453.jpg

I made a tea and have watered a few of the plant's with it. It has only been a day or so since I started that so we will see if they perk up more.
Here is what I brewed..

1/4 cup alfalfa meal, 1/4 cup kelp meal, 1/2 cup chicken compost, 1.5 cups soil mix, 1 tbs molassas, 1 tbs fish emulsion, 3 inches of aloe vera plant smashed up and dropped in bucket with 3 gallons of water. After 24 hours of bubbling I had a ppm of 760 my water is 180 out of the tap.

Thanks for the link! I saw that you put hydroton on your soil in a few pics. I have 100 lbs of it sitting in the garden shed waiting for summer to come. I use my garden pond to grow veggies in a flood and drain setup in the greenhouse. :bigjoint:

I have finally became gnat free and would hate to be re-infested.

I stashed all of my Canna Nutes out of reach a week ago. I can't remember the last time I used them but for me out of sight, out of mind is real!! LOL... I cannot wait to get the current plants harvested so I can try the next round of soil.

I am feeling a bit burnt out with the yellowing I have going on. I have enough small plants to do one more round and some clones that are not rooted yet. I also have a pound on hand so I might take a break soon. Well, soon being summer time!!! :-P

A little update...

The pool strainer plant is still doing good. Here she is 4 days ago on day 25. It seems to have stopped getting taller and is still 10.25 inches tall.

The tall Blue Magoo got to close to the ceiling and had to be bent over!! The bend is pretty ugly and I expected the portion above the bend to not do well. The next day it was back to growing in an upward direction! :-P

Here it is on 1/12 at day 11 and 52.5 inches tall.

20140112_123530.jpg

Here is the next day 1/13..

And what I had to do to her..

And the next day showed it is going to survive!!

We shall see what she looks like today...

I don't know about anyone else but that looks yummy, and ready to me :D

Just one more week LOL!! I keep looking at it like I'm going to chop it then I get distracted by another plant and move on. Today is day 65 and it looks like it's starting to foxtail.

IDK... Should I chop her down?????? :wall:
