Let me get this straight. Guns are more dangerous than automobiles because most vehicle deaths are accidental? 32,000 people were killed in vehicles per year, while firearms killed less than half that, yet firearms are more dangerous? Death isn't death if it was accidental eh?

Do you tell your children to not worry about looking both ways before crossing the street seeing as its not dangerous considering it would be an accident and not on purpose if your child was run over?

If there were gun owners wielding loaded guns everywhere on the sidewalks, shooting into the air, (similar to how cars are in the streets everywhere, all over highways, parking lots, etc.) and there were full gun ranges, EVERYWHERE, one on every corner, FULL of people shooting at all times of the day, the number of gun deaths by accident would go up dramatically. How would it be possible to have 100,000x the amount of gun usage, without an increase in accidents?

Cars/trucks get used much more frequently, by a much larger percentage of the population. Hence, more deaths by accident.

I remember reading a stat, I don't have the reference, but I will continue to look; that said that only 4% of CCW holders fired their gun within 3 years of getting their permit.

Specific type? I gave an example, not a specific type. Do you think that the 4th of July parade is the only time that people are lined up on the street? Do you think that's the only time I could surprise them?

When the Avalanche game gets over and 18,000 people come out of the stadium, how many of them do you think cross the street at one time? What's the busiest crosswalk you have ever seen? 50-100 dead before I have even moved 100 ft. Where are the cops? When I turn the corner on to a street where the sidewalks are packed with people who have no idea what I just did, with their backs all turned to me, how many more do you think would die? Not a single shot has even been fired at me yet. Then I turn up the next street...more dead. Where are the cops?

It was meant as a comparison as to how people behave in vehicles. People break laws all the time, and do wreckless things in their vehciles. Hence, the high rate of deaths from automobile accidents. Are you suggesting that every gun opwner in America is 100% responsible and doesn't do anything they shouldn't with a firearm? That was the point about 'shooting guns into the air'.

Since your vehicle isn't faster than the speed of sound, other people hear the screaming and are immediately alerted that something is happening. Instead of staying in the only place they're vulnerable to a truck, e.g. the street, people dart into shops and alleys, to avoid the guy in a truck.

Since your truck is also slower than radio waves, and the scenario we're discussing is after a hockey game, police will be nearby. They either run you off the road, hit you with spike strips, or shoot your tires out.

Again, this is a specific scenario..... guns are much more effective in MANY MANY more scenarios.

What are you talking about?

There's a difference between using the firearm e.g. pulling the trigger and discharging a round, and showing someone the firearm to scare them.
